Basketball Penalties and Their Signals : Signaling a Technical Foul in Basketball
Refereeing a basketball game can be fun! Learn how to signal a technical foul with expert tips and advice on basketball violations in this free video. Expert: Dave ...
@dabulls1996 The ball is inbounded at different places depending on the
technical foul. If the technical foul is charged to the coach then 2 shots
are awarded and the ball would be inbounded at the division line. If the
technical is charged to a player while the ball is live, Once the foul is
called the ball becomes dead and 2 shots would be awarded and would be put
in bounds at the end or sidelines closest to where the foul occured.
Yet again "expert" village is out to lunch. 1. If you are calling a
technical foul, then why are you signaling a push when you report the foul?
2. In Federation rules ( American Highschool) the ball is inbounded at the
division line opposite the table. 3. The coach has to leave the premises.
Not the premise. A premise is an idea. These expertvillage videos do
nothing but to perpetuate myths about the game of basketball.
@1051842 The rule for a T under NFHS makes no sense, that is true. The NCAA
is catching up somewhat and the rules have improved significantly for
college. The rules for professional basketball in America on Technicals is
about the same as FIBA I think (NBA is one shot and point of interruption).
I think the only difference between FIBA and the NBA is how technicals
count toward player ejection and suspension.
This guy does several things incorrect, he doesn't seem qualified. However
under the high school rules a pre-game technical results in two shots. The
offended team then gets the ball at mid-court opposite the table and the
possession arrow is set towards the other team. Head Coaches are usually
charged with an indirect technical if something occurs in the pre-game
(touching the rim for example).
Depends if the ball is live or dead...IF the ball is live and a Tech is
assessed to a player on the court, after the free throws the ball would be
placed in at POI (Point of interruption). IF the ball is dead or a Tech is
assessed to a coach or the bench then after the free throws the ball is
placed in at the half court line.
@dabulls1996 Go look at the Highlights from Duke at Wake Forest game just
gone, you will see in the second half a technical foul was given, 2 free
throws and the ball put in at the point of where the foul occured, which
was on the end line. Read the rule book for both NCAA and NFHS and you will
see im 100% right.
@theoriginalpopadom You are 100% incorrect. In NFHS,NCAA and FIBA rule
sets, the throw in for a technical foul is ALWAYS at the division line,.
Intentional fouls in FEd and NCAA are awarded from the POI.
"player pushes another player, it's a technical foul" nooooo.. I quote,
FIBA rules 2008: 38.3 Definition 38.3.1 A technical foul is a player
non-contact foul of a behavioural nature.. NON CONTACT. :)
Under NCAA/NFHS rule sets, a technical foul can also be called for dead
ball contact that is intentional or flagrant. Under NBA rules technical
fouls can be handed out for contact during a dead ball
There is no such thing as a live ball technical foul. If the ball is live,
it's a personal foul. If it's dead, it's a technical. Two shots, and the
ball at the division line.
He should read the rule book, and maybe get some cue cards. He needs to
know what he's talking about if he's giving instructional video lessons.
His info is WRONG.
Wow...I don't mean to be rude or mean because I'm sure this guy is trying
to do something good...but there are so many things that are wrong in this
video.
