+Curtis Everett I know somebody has a photo of that moment. I'm sure a few people snapped a photograph and I would love to see them.My Aunt and Uncle were at the show at the El Mocambo is 83. I am going to ask if they took some photographs and if they did I will get them to you if you would like.
Haha Good call!!!! I was looking at how he was shaking hands with the audience at 9:27... while playing better than most people can with both hands....
I loved everything about srv. One thing I noticed in the postings on this
video is no one has commented on is srvs use of Marshall amps in this show.
It's a treat to see him play something other than fender.just goes to show
how great he was he could make any amp sing.
He used Marshall amps all the time...he actually preferred them for his clean tones and fenders for his overdriven sounds... He said its was the opposite of what anyone else did, but it's what sounded best to him... On his last major tour before died they were travelling with 12 different heads, he said he kept breaking them. He was very hard on equipment.. He used to leave the amps on all day or overnight, he felt the hotter the tubes got the better they sounded, he did a lot of unconventional things, but nobody comes close to his monstrous tone so there was a method to his madness.....
+kelsmca Once he acquired some, he used them until his death. That and his Dumble.

Hendrix Lick, a Knopfler lick, etc.. Very cool.

+Mark Holcomb Hendricks was Stevie's inspiration, not his mentor. He loved the new techniques Jimi was introducing into playing electric guitar, but Stevie's "tone' was all him, it's a combination of all the greats that he was so eager to learn from, and so humbled by the fact they allowed him to be included. There has never been another Stevie, and there never will be.
ummm, you forgot about his mentor! The guy he loved, and watch, and learned from! Hendricks sir! Also prince learned from him to. Love stevie will all my heart, but you have to give some thought to whom he learned from! peace!
James K. My dad passed on 8-26-96, one day prior to SRVs 6th anniversary of
his passing and that evening after my dad passed PBS ran the Austin City
Limits program and I flipped to that channel to see Stevie performing this
brilliant mood masterpiece and became quite moved to tears feeling the
emotion and spirit of my dad whom loved great guitar work as I watched SRV
perform this with so much soul and grace, so I have empathy for you and
your family and your brothers and yourself did your dad a great honor to
play this at his service I hope he heard it as he soared into the heavens.
My condolences to your family and yourself. Now our dad's have the best
seat in the house to watch their favorite guitar players.
+Kevin Navarra .................29 now, it is sad.......but you have to understand that there are those that exists in this universe and don't know what REAL music is, which is a universal language................SAD!!
