Hottest Hairstyles From The Roaring Twenties
Girls demonstrate the latest hairstyles and head wear.
@Aaron1912 Exactly! I was actually lucky enough to pick up a 1920's suit
dress that was made from cutting down a 1910 suit & putting essentially a
long dickie of 20's fabric behind the opening in front (the sellers didn't
know what they had - $14). It's adorable! I would love to get my hands on
some 1920s green reproduction shoes from ReMix to finish the whole look
off. It looked exactly like pictures of clothing my great grandmother wore
when she was young. Fabric is still in awesome condition!
Some funky hats (especially the feathered helmets!). Still, they beat the
hell out of these dreadful fascinators today, that's for sure. My favorite
is the hair-do that looks like a racy bob from the front, but has a bun in
the back. This was very popular with the young women who dared not cut
their hair. Such a good girl look--the total reverse of a mullet, which
looks conservative from the front, but shows the world what a tool the
wearer is when he turns his head. lol
I love how in this footage, men are the ones doing women's hair. Not to
insult homosexual men, but its nice that straight men at the time also had
a feminine side. Unless I'm wrong. Heh'. Also, I noticed those waves that
they were doing 3:05 was QUICK! That must've been on HOT iron curler. All
the videos of today's modern waves are REALLY slow and tedious. The secret
is FINALLY revealed!!!
@nauort23 Today's fascinators are a combo of 1980s and 1920s styling, and
our hair isn't worn the same as either of those decades, so they look
doesn't always translate well. I think a lot of them look great when the
whole outfit is complete and balanced.
It was the style at the time. Everyone wanted to copy the Hollywood stars
like Clara Bow and Louise Brooks. You didn't have to be rich either. Most
girls would buy the latest fashion magazines and make their own dresses at
home by recycling old clothes.
I do hope these precious clips will last for hundreds of years without
deterioration is it possible ?? so pretty the style and grace and by the
way did you all see that most hairstylists were guys "Gotta luv it :D i
want to be a hair stylist myself :)
From old tv documentaries and historic archives like Gaumont and Movietone.
I saved it on my computer years ago and then I saw Youtube. I remember
everyone thought Youtube would only last a few months. LOL. That was 6
years ago.
Thanks. The songs I used were: I've Got Some Lovin' To Do (1926). My Sugar
(1925). Piccadilly Strut (1925). They were all played by Al Starita and the
Kit-Cat Band in London.
omg, who made this movie?? the model at 58 seconds (on the right ) could be
ME!!! the again at 1:35 seconds....oy, I'm freaking out. How do we find out
who these models are???
This hairstyle can also be a 30's or 40's style as victory rolls were most popular in these decades. This hairstyle give peoples with long hair the illusion it is short, ...
+Elizabeth Cowan ohhh gosh... :/ I didn't realise that this could affect someone so much in a negative way..Honestly this was not ignorance as I am a history major, you may have simply overlooked the description. Simple things can be overlooked, like you stating that it is a 1940's song. This was my very first edited video on a not too fabulous program. Plus editing yourself is very difficult and I was not focusing on the possibility that some may be confused on the difference in time between the hairstyle I was trying to portray and the music that went overtop. It was honestly not a mistake, it was a jazz song that I was listening to at the time. The aim of this video was not to deceive, and I am sorry that you feel this way :))
+GeorgiaKate if you are this politically correct, why couldn't you be so in your video? By the way, I am aware In the Mood was released in the late 30's, but it is considered way more iconic in the 40's. This is why I said 40s. The reason I am a bit annoyed is that fact that this may create confusion for other people. For example , I dress in decades all the time and do extensive research before I try anything and claim it's from another decade. It's really aggravating when somebody just assumes I'm from the 50s when I'm dressing early 40s. Some even say the 70s! But I know, "honest mistakes" and I shouldn't be mad. But I just want to prevent as much ignorance as possible, you know? The same can go for music. Music is my life and people think that when I listen to Glenn Miller, I'm actually listening to soundtracks from the 60s. It's weird, I know, but I take this stuff to heart.
+Elizabeth Cowan you're not the first to be confused, that is okay :) It is an inspired look (video title) that is similar to a 20's hairstyle, which modern day people can achieve easily with minimal time and no heatnot to be nit picky but In the Mood by Glenn Miller was released in 1939, popular in the 40's.. topping the charts for 13 weeks!! But many people play modern music to vintage tutorials, I just like jazz.Hope that helps!! happy youtubing!
+Coral Smythe ;) read the description, can be adapted to 40's and I like Glenn Miller what is the harm done? it isn't an exact replica of a 20's hair style so the music doesn't have to be 20's.. like if i played a song from today, is that equally as cringe worthy? plus You're the Cream in My Coffee was recorded in 20's
I love this video. Ive been looking for ways to do 1930s hairstyles for
ages and unfortunately curling tongs dont agree with me. Thanks for giving
my hair an exciting change.
Seriously needed this right now!! Yøu saved me! I have a 1920s night for
school on Thursday and was struggling XD is there anyway yøu can hide the
headband more?
you are most welcome! hhmmm, maybe a smaller headband or one that is your hair colour.... dont know sorry :/ maybe even leaving some hair out and curl it 20's style and shape around headband? if that makes sense
Your hair tutorial was gorgeous! I think it would also look great if you
curled some of the outside hairs so that it would be more romantic! Love it
any ways!
I think I'm just hopeless with my hair. I can get it to roll beautifully
but getting the headband to go on my head and keep all my hair straight
down. So it looks weird when it poofs up. I don't think my head was maid
for headbands
what part of you hair is poofing? :P maybe try more lots more bobby pins (secure headband and rolls firmly) and hairspray everyone's head isn't :P i struggle with them too, i just place bobby pin in strategic places :) hope this helps a tad, sorry if i am no help ahaha
Wow really this is so Amazing u have such perfect hair and face for this
Style!!*_*
Can u pllss tell me the first Song of the Video? I know i Heard this once
for so much times but forgot !!!^^
ohh wow thank you so much for the kind words!!! it is called In The Mood by Glen Miller.. one of my all time favourites!

I know a lot of you were excited after I tweeted / FBed / and Instagramed this style a week and a half ago, and it's finally here! :) These are more modern takes on ...
When I went to hairschool we had to make the fingerwaves with a blowdryer
and a metal comb. It's so much harder and it takes forever to do it that
way, but that's how it was done back in the day, and some older ladies
still come to the salon wanting the old fashion fingerwaves. This video was
awesome! :)
LOL did you and Michelle Phan make an arrangement about focussing on the
'20 ... because seriously, after her upload I thought "now I want to know
how to do a hair style like that" et voilà ... hours later, there was your
video ;D
This hair style is seriously awesome, I had a Gatsby day for English and
the bob literally stayed up for the entire day (even when I changed clothes
it still looked awesome). It doesn't take long either, maybe around 30
minutes
love love love the makeup! where were you three months ago when i was going
to a 1920s theme party, i stressed sooo much! ended up with a style almost
exactly like your 2nd one though, even my headband was similar hehe
Omg! You have the NICEST hair color! Honestly, wow!. This will sound
creepy, but I´ll take a screenshot of your hair color and gonna ask at the
salon if they can do something similar w/my own hair! You go girl!
Can I say that you are SO beautiful? And this style suits you a lot, you
look like you just jumped out of a parisian cafe' in the '20s XD But I'm
serious...thanx for the vid, love that style *-*
My prom theme is "royal paradise" can u do a tutorial royal hairstyle or
smth? Please, I really love ur tutorials and all of the hairstyles are very
beautiful! Hope u read this, thank you! Xx
We had to do them with waving lotion, gel, and a comb at my school too. We
only had one lady that came in for finger waves though, all the other
ladies wanted roller sets
How long do you keep the finger waves set in the clips after you hairspray
them? Got a gatsby themed formal tomorrow, and i'm doing my friend's hair
for it. :-)
If I'm ever a flapper I'm definitely going to do this hairstyle :) It's
gorgeous! I don't have super long hair but I think this will still work
pretty good. :)
PLEASE do a makeup tutorial on this makeup!!!! im going to be a flapper for
halloween and this makeup would be perfect!!! definitely going to do the
faux bob!
awts we had a 1920s-ish event last September and I was looking frantically
for a tutorial like this D': wish i can turn back on time but oh well,
great work!
Please do a make-up tutorial, please! I have a costumed party in a few
weeks and the theme is mafia, I really wanted to have a 1920's feel to it.
Please?
I loved this tutorial, this was the easiest tutorial I found on creating a
faux bob. It helped so much!

+OtakuPrincess The title isn't "15 facts you realise when you're 20" it's facts you LEARN. Realising something and learning something first-hand are two completely different things.
+Haoi Lu Same here, except I'm 16. I don't relate to the alcohol and bar stuff because I don't drink and I never will. I've tasted wine and such before in small amounts, and I hated it anyway.
