Well, from what firefighters have told me, Engine 13 is basically falling
apart and last I heard bids were going out for the new truck, but probably
by now the truck is already on order. Engine 7 is next to go after that,
and then Engines 4 and 5. As for ladders, I heard that they might be
getting 2 new ladders in the next few years, but thats still undecided. And
as for rescues, Rescue 5 is the second oldest, but Rescue 6 (being the
oldest) usually gets a "handed down" or "second hand" piece
Excellent Documentary on the PFD, produced in the early 1990's by Bob Farrell & Capt. Joe Errico for the Providence Firefighters Union. Note @ 3:50 mins mark, ...
I got my first scanner back in 1995. It came with a scanner guide. I lived
in Dudley, MA and punched in 154.370 and was hooked until they went 800 MHz
digital. Now you have to be either in the city or very close to the city. I
could here 154.370 almost anywhere in southern ma near RI. Those were the
days.
@jwdub75 It's real nice to hear that, sure wish the politicians & people of
Providence could see this video, especially in light of the battle we're in
trying to preserve what we have. I love my job,and this video only
reinforces that all the more. Thanks for the post.
@jwdub75 I do have the rest of it, including the EMS and photo
montage...... not in great shape though, I'll to repost & re-record it when
time permits.
This is bullshit PR for the fire dept, how about enforcing fire codes like
the Station nightclub? You let packed concerts go on there for years with
no sprinklers lol what an embarrassment of greed
