@hifiguy9 you hit ur brakes on pure ice when sliding u give up all control
ur vehicle. Your best bet is to not hit the brakes, steer to avoid. Hitting
the brakes may be instinct, but its wrong, just like pulling out an impaled
object, instinct says pull it out but youll only end up making things
worse. If you drive, go on some gravel and slam on ur brakes(if you dont
have abs) then try to turn, same thing on ice but way less traction all
around
@Jason24241 actually most 4x4s (trucks and pickups) have very high centers
of gravity making them twitichy has the weight shifts from one side of the
veicule to the other... 4WD cars with a good amount of power are the best
optiont to drive extreme conditions like this ... something like a Subaru
Impreza will have no problems.
Never ever hit your brakes when sliding on ice. Don't let off the throttle
fast, ease off the throttle slowly, correct it, drive away safely. When
your sliding you only want to turn your wheel till the tires are facing the
direction you want to go, biggest mistake ppl make is turning to far,
overcorrecting.
The driver panicked (maybe hydroplanned a bit?), braked very hard even
though there was no reason to do so, caused the weight to come off the rear
wheels resulting in a very slight slide, then he tried to correct using
sterring instead of releasing the brakes. His overcorrected steering caused
the spin.

@greenandgold78 rofl i call bullshit on that, when im on the phone with my
friends in michigan they point out at least 2 or 3 people who spin out near
them when im on the phone with them for like 2 hours LMAO, so its safe to
say everyone drives like a dumbass in bad weather :P
He should of never hit his brakes. If you start sliding the best thing to
do (especially when there was no traffic around the truck) is to just steer
into the direction of the slide and not touch your brakes. You have
absolutely no control when all your wheels are locked up.
@Jsoto1115 I wasn't in shock after my fender bender. I pulled off to the
side. This accident was nothing that traumatic, therefore, they should have
had the sense to pull to the side. The truck and car were fine, but the...
SAV(?) shouldn't have stayed there.
Nobody worry about stopping to see if they had little kids in the car and
make sure they are ok. Just keep going on about your day! Jeesh maybe its
just me but i stop almost everytime i see a (non hobo) person standing on
the side of the road.
Every person should go in an empty icy parking lot and practice handling
their vehicle on slick pavement because it never ceases to amaze me how
stupid people are when they lose control also.. slow down a little bit, it
never hurt anyone
The people in the cars that drove up to it right after the pileup just
peaked in the windows and were like, "no one unconscious? No serious
injuries? K, I'm definitely not getting stuck behind this when the police
come, I'm out of here."
@90TegRS So if a car is spinning 20 feet in front of you how do you not hit
your brakes even on ice. It is always a persons instinct to hit the brakes
in those last few seconds of thinking especially when the adrenaline starts
pumping.
@killer807ownz what do you own bitch you own nothing , - you can not crash
while driving slow , are you a fucking retard if you cant drive while going
15 miles or less per hour , you sir are a fucking dusch bag
if you hit ice just let off the gas, keep the steering wheel straight if
possible, andstay off the brakes, just quick taps, but let do not the
wheels lock up. The car will safer than leaning on the brakes.
