I think a country where it is law or norm to wear a veil is the wrong place to study if it makes the wearer feel more secure. Offcourse people feel more secure in a way when they are not sticking out from the crowd. A country where it´s not norm, but not considered strange or provocative either would be the right place to study the effects of the veil. Otherwise it´s just socialisation you´re studying.

She doesent wear the burqa! She don´t even wear the Hijab (because then her hair and underarms would also be covered), she wears a shayla! That simply means a shawl loosly wrapped around the head. The style that most women in Iran are wearing actually. Some even style their bangles and let them hang out. You can say it´s a fashion style of a veil.

This is something, I live in Boston, and most people love the way the Burqa/Hijab looks on people. If it wasn't religious, I'd probably wear one. I like the way she wears hers, I mean, she isn't even completely covered.
