+Mitch Roberts LOL Its not like you can really see it. Your hands just get really stiff and tight feeling. Its weird, they feel stronger but they're not, at least for me.

+Mitch Roberts Yeah, everyone should just compete at the class they're in and not worry about this... The reason Chris is an exception is because he's a world class lifter going for records. If you're not going for records or trying to win a specific class, there's no point in this.

+Mitch Roberts well it's not gross, it's just the way your body responds to such extreme shifts in body and water weight... if you want to be truly competitive and break records you pretty much have to cut down a weight class unless you are insanely strong. (e.g. Jesse Norris seems to hover around 205 and competes at 200 or 198, whatever the 93kg weight class is) if you are interested I suggest watching Kevin Oak's recent video on how he cut weight for the WR he set a couple of weeks ago to get a better idea and appreciation for what these athletes go through.

+heavyjunkops ugg, fuck that's gross. When I do meets I'm just gonna train at the weight class I gotta be in.

While trying to rehydrate, a lot of the fluid that you push in can end up in your extremities.

Chris you mentioned hand swelling. Ever play drums? This teaches hand coordination and timing. Get a pad and play drills. r= right, l=left. Turn metronome on. rrl then lrl then llr then rlr and rllr, lrrl. Drum paradiddles on drum pad. Teaches hands how to stay loose under speed.

+5zazen you're the one who, in another thread on this page, told the dude to do calf raises before squats to avoid straining his groin. On another thread you advise drums for swollen hands. You fail to understand the simple comments that I have made. Please forgive me for assuming that you might be slow. If you have the right to make these, seemingly of base recommendations, why can't I give my input based of actual experience and knowledge gained from expert coaches?

+Mitchell Hayman Mitchell, save your insults.  I worked as a CSCS for 10 years, so I am in the know of "off label".  Arrogance on the part of self appointed experts I have heard it all before.  "A little slow".  Come to the operating room and try to do all the things I do with the heart.  Have a little humility before you write things when you assume who your audience is.  Keep up with your bro science.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+5zazen You must be a little slow. Of course different diuretics have different medical indication. No pharmaceutical company produces drugs specifically for powerlifting. When athletes use a diuretic think of it as "off label" use.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gKCXvg9It1U/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACQ/uMPBEgRMVuA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Mitchell Hayman Thanks for that explanation.  I work in a hospital.  Im a cardiovascular tech.  There are various types of diurectics for heart failure and other purposes.  These arent drugs to use just to "lose water weight", there are medical indications such as an elevated LV edp, as well as backwards and forward heart failure.  Thanks though.

+5zazen When you take a diuretic to loose water weight, it does so by excretion of minerals and water by the kidney. Different types work by flushing the body of sodium and potassium or just sodium and sparing the potassium. When you recomp with water you must add back the minerals that you have lost. Getting the mineral balance wrong could cause some bloating.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gKCXvg9It1U/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACQ/uMPBEgRMVuA/photo.jpg?sz=64
Why someone's sodium and potassium would we disjointed from power lifting and no underlying health issues, something else physiological going on here I can't relate to.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gKCXvg9It1U/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACQ/uMPBEgRMVuA/photo.jpg?sz=64
Why does he need a diuretic initially? Heart failure?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
he's having issues with the diuretic and the recomp. Playing drums has nothing to do with water retention from the recomp. More to do with the sodium and potassium balance.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
More strange advice.

I heard Red Shirt Spotter's rocket ship just passed Mars last night.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gKCXvg9It1U/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACQ/uMPBEgRMVuA/photo.jpg?sz=64
Perhaps I don't. Given that any communication is needed gives just one more step with injury potential. Why anyone would take that risk, they are welcome to it, no thanks!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+5zazen You don't understand that the monolift is for the safety of the lifter. What happened to Chris was just human error through a miss communication.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gKCXvg9It1U/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACQ/uMPBEgRMVuA/photo.jpg?sz=64
That guy gave an injury. I don't like those racks where the lifter is dependent on someone else. Just get a cage or Olympic lifter stands with safeties and/or bumper plates.
