Miss Nigeria contestants no sabi speak English!!!
//nigeriasingleszone.com Meet new friends in Nigeria.
I speak the same language with the girl in 1:57
So, here is the transcript:
Question: What are you expecting from today's screening?
Answer: Iz to the bes...the superb in me...Iz to the superb out in
me...because I see this as a career... I want to be a model to other girls
out there... I want to create an avenue for achieving...for accomplishment
of their dreams... because I know %^$"$^%(&%£ ^&%£"$^)(*&%$%& need our
support.
OMG! my statistics; I'm tall, good looking bla bla bla. And the lady that
schooled all over Nigeria? please this is highly disappointing and truly
there are no excuses for this massive failure in speaking the language we
all call our lingua franca. SCRAP ENGLISH make we dey speak our papa
language. lol.
Some people IQ for that place no even reach their age sef.
+Nkiru NwabudikeMy dear, I've seen worse. Years ago, a minister - or was it a governor? - was asked to comment on the mineral resources of Nigera, and he said "Yes, we have Coke, Fanta, Sprite...". This is not a joke - it was shown on Network News, and everyone was talking about it. Today, the situation hasn't improved, which is why those girls couldn't answer simple questions relating to pagentry. As for those people who call you a fake because you are well-spoken, tell them to go to hell; they know nothing.
Lol. A term used in the modelling world all the time. To say I was amazed is an understatement. This is just so sad. Yet we find this everywhere. I see young graduates with poor control of the language. Graduates for god's sake. I am a recent graduate, when I speak to most of my colleagues I am told I am "forming" just because I speak it well. You can imagine he state of affairs. Speak English well and you become an exception to the general rule. So sad.
Exactly. Somebody here had the nerve to say I'm disrespecting my Nigerian heritage because I think it's important that Nigerians should learn proper English, but that's rubbish. If they can't speak in English, let them speak in their native tongue. And how can a pageant contestant not know the meaning of the word 'statistics'? (As in the human body, not maths!)
Dude, there's areason English is Nigeria's official language - there are at least 201 languages there, and don't get me started on the dialects! They need to find a way to communicate, hence the use of English. It's the same in Ghana and South Africa. Even here in the UK, not everybody speaks English due to multiculturalism, but we have to in order to understand each other. Frankly though, it's not the poor language skills of the contestants that bothers me, it's the fact that they don't understand similar pageant criteria; when they were asked about their statistics, they gave stupid answers.
I'm surprised with people making excuses that english is not our first
language, do you ever ask yourselves what our first language is in Nigeria?
Do you ask yourselves if we can all speak our mothers's tongues at public
functions in Nigeria? Do you ask yourselves how many nations of tribes we
have in Nigeria? If everyone speaks their mothers's tongue there is not
gonna be any form of communication between people of different tribes. Even
Yorubas alone have more than five different dialects that some other
Yorubas find difficult to understand. People should learn to accept their
flaws and not come here to make stupid excuses to cover their woes.
Ridiculous comment..English is for the English people..We are Igbo we are not English..We are African we are not English..You are whatever tribe you are you are not English..This colonialism will kill us..Luckily there are still 500 languages spoken in Nigeria today..Sadly many languages have become extinct since the creation of the fallacy called Nigeria..Maybe you will be happy if Yoruba language is next..Or Hausa..I'm actually very happy that these girls can't speak English very well..They are not British..And neither are you..How many British people speak Hausa or Yoruba??Why do we have to be so ridiculous??I don't know what you are trying to say by saying that people are giving excuses..Many people don't speak English in Nigeria..Which is a beautiful thing which I encourage..This is a beauty contest not an English contest..These idiots that are trying to shame the girls for not speaking English properly are only ridiculous fools that must be laughed at and nothing more..The same government they are supporting is the government that has failed to build schools to teach them this stupid language called English..
+Ray SunshineDude, I know exactly what you mean. I live in London, and there are loads of native Brits who either can't speak standard English, or have really weird accents...or both. People often call me posh because I speak properly - weird. However, I have to say that the girl you are refering to made a mistake; she should have said "superbness", which is the correct adjective.
Btw the girl at 1:52 can actually knows English quite well. But her accent and nerves make it incomprehensible. She says "I want to bring out the best, superb in me. Because i do this as a career. I want to be a role model for other girls out there. i want to create an avenue for their achievements. Because i know that there are forces that are working against them. Because trully they need our support and they need our sponsorship." I study English in the UK and let me tell u something there are many brits whoose english u cant understand either. Just google 'scouse accent' and see for yourself. I applaud that girl for trying to push through even though her message is lost in the nerves
You act like all these women were given an equal chance in education. I think if any of the women got an opportunity to learn English the right way, they would grab it with both hands. You can tell because some of them are nervous and embarassed when they speak. Not everybody had the right start in life.

France bans ultra-thin models in crackdown on anorexia
A controversial bill has been passed in the fashion capital of the world banning excessively skinny models from the catwalk. Report by Victoria Nwosu-Hope.
+juliadennehy for your info im 5,10 height and 148 pounds with two kids and a gorgeous husband ,,,, you on the other hand are really stupid,,,no more comments for stupid people like you,,,now go bother your fat mother imature Julia !!
+mmaakkiinn Oh, you must be a fat pig. Not surprised. Enjoy your food, fattie... Oh, but you're a healthy weight. (Rolls eyes). Keep the comments coming... love 'em! =D
+juliadennehy ,,thats a stupid thing to say,,,we are talking about a healthy weight,,not anorexia,,if you want to see people like this go to Africa and tell them they are healthy even though they are ready to die....these models could eat a regular meal and be healthy, because healty food is around them,,,people in Africa dont even have healthy food to eat
France has passed laws making purchasing sex a criminal offense and now
skinny women can't work in modelling. This is the ideals of freedom that
state feminists believe women should have: you can't earn money for being
attractive.
I don't find them attractive, but many people do, most of them women. I don't think it's appropriate to tell people they are insane for finding obese woman, disabled people, congenital mutation or anorexic women attractive. The idea that we should legislate "beauty standards" could only have come up from fundamentalist feminist distorted mind.
+D See Ker Dear friend, the law mandates that the model has at least a BMI of 15, which is very skinny. If you had a sane mind you wouldn't find a female that thin attractive to begin with. And please, don't give me the rubbish about your beloved free market.
Being thin is now a crime in France punishable by fine and imprisonment.
You are not at liberty with your own body in France.
An official persecution is just the thing to boost the suicide rate from
social rejection.
Why not forbid people to be poor by punishment and prison.
Where is Voltaire when you need him.
+mars Cubed I only found one video, it was English Summers day. it was a nice bit of nostalgia for the days when I could walk in the countryside without fear of snakes and deadly spiders and you didn't check for crocodiles at the waters edge.I grew up in Britain but live in Australia now.I don't know how you have pegged me as right wing.My subscriptions are not meant to be public recommendations. I like to know what the opposition is saying and make my own judgments.click on the video list in my YouTube channel and judge me by my own out put and not the views of others. I am serious about the wrong approach to this problem by the French government.it is like any prohibition it causes more harm than good. The industry regulates itselfFur was once fashionable on the catwalks and is all but gone now and it was not fear of a fine or imprisonment that stopped people from wearing fur.
+Kevin Sullivan I have an Art degree but stopped painting years ago.. There are enough walls in the world for every kind of expression.. including those that want to knock the barbed wire variety down. If you are going to check out channels, then check out mine too for balance.. particularly the left politics videos.. you will find a lot deeper and more honest stuff there.
+mars Cubed I am an old Artist that was giving you the courtesy of answering your questions. If you are studying art you are in the wrong business. There are no restrictions in art, no limits no laws and when governments make laws to fine you for going beyond their limits then there is cause for concern.
+Kevin Sullivan You just come across as a troll who is wilfully being obtuse. It is pretty obvious from the sum of your comments here that you are playing with less than a full deck.."Internet Trolls Are Narcissists, Psychopaths, and Sadists"https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/your-online-secrets/201409/internet-trolls-are-narcissists-psychopaths-and-sadists
+mars Cubed You have made me curious I really should watch one of the videos to see what you are on about. I subscribe to any channel that sparks my curiosity I don't block views that I don't like. I try to understand them or what drives them. I Think I have subscribed to as many different views from all factions from Alex jones to TYT CNN to RT.I cant seem to make my channel page show just my videos they don't give you the control that they used to with channel appearance.I could say that the BMI is just a statement of fashion. Its a current viewpoint of the preferred body style Its a clerical scale that can vary with the individual I remember sights of human wilfulness in denial of the flesh in the streets of India. the sardus would do terrible things to their bodies to the admiration of the people. What sort of restrictions can you put on a person that is intent on never opening their hand to let the nails grow right through their palm. All this is making me come across as promoting thin models when I really have great concern for the girls that try to fit the glass slipper .But I strongly believe that this punitive method is more damaging. The corset problem of the Victorian days that was actually killing women was not stopped by making corsets illegal or fining corset makers .Social problems have social solutions,
+Kevin Sullivan Fair enough that you want to check out opinions.. however consider that the thing about Molineux that particularly sickens me, is that he is very deceptive. ie, he used data for "rate of change of Govt size".. but presented as "size of Govt". It is just junk that feeds far right trolls. How would you feel if corps and ad agencies made money by getting kids to eat to excess.. not just like fast food, but so it led to eating disorders and mortality? There is a certain point.. which will be based on BMI (body mass index), to steer away from the most excessive forms of thinness.. That does not mean that there won't be thin models.. but it will mean that excessively thin will not be promoted as an ideal.
+mars Cubed I looked at my channel and it was not showing my video list but activities. I noticed I had subscribed to a Moleneux channel and there must have been a reason. Perhaps I meant to look into something he was saying. I am open to all views but haven't had time to see his yet.the fasion industry is just trying to sell clothes they don't care what size the model is they give the public what it wants.Public taste and demand is all they are interested in.If they loose sales then they wont use thin girls. Many girls that just like to be slim will have trouble getting work in any of the arts, film modelling TV etc.Worse than being under age is being thought to be too thin.Fingers point with loud whispers and sniggers everywhere you go.You look half starved you look poor etc.As if such meanness and official persecution is supposed to make them glom hamburgers and fries. To many of the girls keeping slim to make a lot of money is equivalent to the rigorous apprenticeship of a Jockey. They starve themselves for five years to earn the money to retire early and grow fat.The same with the thin models they know they have a limited work span and also know they could be thin and ritch or stay thin and poor. Now France has made it illegal for them to work they can grow fat on the dull life of welfare.Nobody is really considering the girls in this whole thingWhat do they think, as it effects them the most.
+Kevin Sullivan That is part of the problem, people aren't aware, but get taken in by far right tabloid junk attempting to seem 'rad' by attacking Govt mindlessly. Government means who rules.. Small Govt is oligarchy, plutocracy, oligopoly etc. Big Government means democracy, everyone involved in decision making. The far right also 'confuse' the words "Government" with "State" (army, police, judiciary, prisons).. trying to get people to attack Govt while the right actually support military and prison expansion etc. I know I have strayed off topic somewhat.. just seems odd that you should have good videos on your channel yet are saying such relatively dumb things here.. The only reason that might be the case is some of the 'libertarian' (corp lobby) videos you have liked in recent times..
+Kevin Sullivan Put your straw man where the light don't shine.Nobody hates thin people.. however where there is an epidemic of anorexia, which is a mental illness, being promoted as a lifestyle to vulnerable young people.. for the sole purpose of corporations making money by exploiting young people's desire to be attractive and fit in.. then it needs to be curtailed. I looked at your channel.. although you have some good videos, you also have nasty far right corp sales cults like Molineux.. Dump the corp lobby junk.. Regulations are often required to stop corporations harming environments and harming people for myopic profits.
+mars Cubed No fashion or trend has ever required punishment of fine or prison to become unfashionable..Fashion is the most controllable media there is.I saw the Twiggy look come and go in the 60s and it was a switch in public taste not threat of jail that made the change. Why do fat people hate thin people? age old question.
Stop lying youcorp lobby supporting fool.. Underr the new law Agencies who use models whose BMIs fall below the stipulated figure will face a fine of €75,000 (£55,000) and staff face up to six months in prison. Failure to state when photos have been retouched will incur a fine of €37,500 or up to 30% of the amount spent on the advertising featuring the model.French MPs also voted for a further clause in the health bill making it illegal to glorify anorexia on the internet. It fixes a maximum fine of €10,000 and a year in jail for “provoking people to excessive thinness by encouraging prolonged dietary restrictions that could expose them to a danger of death or directly impair their health”.//www.theguardian.com/fashion/2015/apr/03/france-bans-skinny-models-crackdown-anorexiaThis does not make anorexia illegal, Anorexia is an illness that gets treated by the medical profession as it can be lethal to those suffering from it. The Lying junk you are coming out with attempt to scare already vulnerable young people.Suggesting that homosexuality is threatened also, is equally as disgusting, it is invariably ultra conservative groups that attack the LGBT community.. ie, far right corp lobby idiots like you.
+Starseed Activate Agencies and anyone who Aids or encourages supplies dietary aids or accessories. The full law goes int exesive details.Saying, "vous regardez la graisse" to someone could land you in jail with these laws.It is not the agencies that will be hurt, they have lawyers and connections and thin girls are not essential to their trade, it is the girls that have to worry and stress. Artists and photographers face punishment and anyone who employs someone that is not considered fat enough for the job.I am not advocating anorexia, but see this as a social imposition and discrimination with government punishment. and prohibition with penalties is not a solution. This is a dangerous backward step for France. What next, punishing people for hiring homosexuals or encouraging obesity? This is not a problem solved by penalisem.
