That's the point. Like you said, who could resist the look of a working GSD? But the high-energy turns people off. These long-coated ones are breed to be low to medium energy. They are playful and don't say no to a good game of fetch, but know when to settle down. Let's take two different breeds. First, the Bulldog. Good and lazy, a perfect, as I call them, "Saturday morning dog" (meaning they'll wake up when you wake, or they'll just keep on sleeping). But what if you feel like you want to go for a jog in the park for once, or play some frisbee or ball? Second,...let's take the typical energy GSD. Good for an active person that likes to get out and go, but what if you want to relax for awhile? How much exercise do you have to give it until it finally triggers its off switch?P.S.- Not trying to trigger any argument, just kinda agreeing with you in my weird way...

I try to only post positive stuff, but I am gonna second this...these dogs are amazing!These shepherds are beautiful, and the breeders are TRYING to breed for lower energy, and more importantly, for fewer hip problems...also, there are many people who want to have a dog with the coloring of a wolf, without actually being part wolf...im a huge fan of "king", shepherds, but thats my personal opinion...

+Tasha Tabarez Please, before you spout nonsense, check your facts. These GSDs are not fat. They are large. There is a difference. Fat is obese, having access fat padding on the body. These dogs do not. A Great Dane is not a fat dog, it is a large dog. Granted, these dogs are not the standard for the GSD, but that's what they're being bred for in the first place.

It's not the dogs fault we must remind ourselves got to still give the pups love :)
