I agree, I am a logistics controller lead & if any of my guys were involved
in PA I would have been devastated they trust us to get from
home-offshore-home. There are a lot of people involved in getting these
guys offshore, the only thing we can take from this is that those guys left
a legacy SAFETY! I know nothing like this will happen again..as long as
procedures r followed I know the guys r well trained now..shame can't be
said for PA & pre 1980's offshore. RIP Guys & love 2 yr families xxx
'JohnBoy' this is not meant to be a full-blown account - but it's not a
joke. For anyone involved in ANY safety critical work in ANY industry it is
a true 'wow' film. It makes YOU think about YOUR responsibilities. And
that, it appears to me, is the point. And it makes it very well. Too many
people die or are seriously injured in the UK due to their actions, or
worse, inactions. It's the best H&S film I've seen. It is a very moving
film with incredibly important messages for all.
Money over safety. My brother in law left rig work after only 6 months.
Staff safety and H&S training in general were low down on the agenda. When
he asked about the emergency evacuation procedure he was told to 'grow some
balls'. They didn't even have practice drills. The scary thing is it all
this took place post alpha pipa.
Very sobering. We don't see the effect on the families, colleagues and
workmates. I've read the two volumes of the Cullen Report - it was heavy
going. I recon its time for HSE/industry to commission a short
social/technical documentary on Piper Alpha so every industry can
benefit.... It also only needs 22 minutes.
This DVD was shown to all personnel offshore in the north sea -
rig/platforms etc last week...they see how much things have changed, guys
were offshore in the 80's with no RGIT (Survival) so different now xxxxx
At a time when practical and pragmatic Health & Safety is under fire
constantly at the moment from the British Government, this is a sad and
tragic reminder of why it is so important.
Well put together Step Change. For those with more interest the Fire in the
night documentry from BBC 2 interviewed many of the survivors. Very
sobering.
Wow,.... nette Perspektiven und ich liebe ja speziell die An- und
Ablegemannöver :-) Also...reichlich zu gucken für mich.... vielen Dank für
