I have the 2016 vw gti 2dr coupe standard s model. I wanted plaid seats on
mine. The feel of the car it's ok. It's quiet and elegant looking from the
interior. The car is to refined for me. To be honest, I TRY to have fun
with the car but it's the car doesn't want to, you know? I bought the car
because I really like the way it looked interior and exterior wise, plus
the sportiness. Sometimes it seems to me like it's not even sporty at
all,,..regular cars even pass me up like nothing! I'm like WTH man..Ya'll
people should be behind me. I'm going right at 40mph then they just past me
up like nothing, and it's 35mph zones.
I try to have fun at it's peak 4,500 rpm 210 and I'm like in my mind
//That's it? really? Or I just do feel it. Another thing it's that I don't
feel connected to the car at all! I don't feel the connection to the car or
to the road. This car is for really grown up people that want a sporty
look, elegant, and really refined vehicle that doesn't feel anything.
+MoogxD1 I think all your issues could be fixed with a few simple upgrades from APR or any other reputable tuning company. Check out my GLI video. The tune really wakes these cars up
+Rick Danner I think they two totally different cars. The GTI is a fun car. The civic is very nice but we haven't even seen the Si or type R yet so it's hard to say. the SI will most likely be a huge contender for the GTI so we will have to wait and see.
I test drove a 2016 GTI . Coming from my civic SI I was blown away with the
torque ! Is the VW as reliable as my honda? I really want to pull the
trigger onthis car because It blew me away ! Especially since it has a
manual transmission ! AND like yo said it practical for my 56 year old body
!
Haha I used to have a civic Si sedan myself. Reliability wise I don't know too much on the GTI. If you buy new you will have the peace of mind with the warranty. Plus I have never herd anything negative as far as reliability goes on these. And if you buy New you can get all the new driver assistance stuff
+Boateng 2018 it probably comes down to personal opinion. If you feel like working the clutch a lot in traffic is too much no matter how light the pedal feel is yeah go with a dsg but for me it's a small sacrifice to pay to have that connection with your car. I may have to drive one with the dsg to see how much connectivity you loose if any.
+ahadha Or if you live in an area where you get traffic anytime (not just during "commuting time"), or live near an actual real city and drive your car in it, the dsg is the better choice and ANY manual transmission would be annoying sooner or later.
I personally prefer a manual. And with how light the clutch feels in this I wouldn't see it becoming too annoying in traffic. Plus when your driving spirited you will miss not having that connection with the car. Just my opinion though.
