well since mine is a 600 i started out doing roll ons in first just to get
used to the wheel comning up. then i did clutch wheelies in first (wouldn't
suggest if you have a 750 or higher. but once i was able to get throttle
control down, i just started bouncing it in 2nd gear about 45-50 mph or 7k
rpm. and i kept getting it higher and higher until i could see the head
light then i was high enough. just practice your sit downs and get used to
throttle control before you do standups
whenever i was changing lanes i put more pressure on the foot in the
direction of where i wanna go. example, if i wanna go right, i take my left
foot off the peg, but be careful if you do it that way, it'll turn really
quick. now if you want you can also just lean into it but it's turns a lot
slower. the trick i found out to steering is it's a lot easier the more
vertical i get it.
suprisingly no. i have neve wrecked doing wheelies. i amost did one time
when i was going around a turn doing a wheeelie, and since i didn't have a
wheelie bar on, it started going backwards but i was able to hit the rear
brake. unfortunately though, it made my front tire slam down and almost
threw me over the handle bars. but that's the extent of it, no wrecks...
just wheelies
man iknow need gear. it doesn't matter if i have gear on or not though
doing that. if i fall i'm gonna get messed up either way. hell usually by
the time i set it down i'm going 90mph. i don't have a bike anymore
anyways. and i never did wreck doing a wheelie. just learn to appreciate
what kind of skill it takes instead of worrying about what gear i have on.
be careful man, it'll come up really quick and in many gears just rolling
on, for a beginner learning, i'd try to learn in second gear rolling on.
that way it won't come up to quick for you to begin with. just try that and
learn throttle control then get to standups. just becareful and take it as
slow as you have to. i was fortunate and haven't wrecked
i'm 22 and i have only been riding for about 7 months at the time i was
able to do standups. ever since i got the bike and was comfortable riding i
tryed power wheelies to get the hang of it then ended up trying standups. i
learned standups in a bout a day since i already learned throttle control
in first gear. and thats a 05' 600 gixxer that i ride.
@blue92notch just take it really slow. start with sit down wheelies. then
when you are comfortable with the wheel coming off the ground, try standing
up. just be sure to know when you are trying hard and when you are trying
too hard! i've never wrecked but i took my time and didn't rush. i learned
how to do a stand up wheelie in about 5 months.
in that video i only use 2nd gear. i'm able to keep it vertical enough to
not have to red line it. by the time i set it down i usually go about
75-80mph. i can now change gears most of the time if i need to but i don't
really like going that fast so i jsut keep it in 2nd. if i'm going to fast
i tend to get it more vertical to slow it down.
man i wouldn't suggest changing fromn first to second just because you have
to go through neutral. now when i change gears i make sure i get it to the
balance point, then pull in the clutch and change as fast as i can. if you
wait for the rpms to go down it can really mess up your balance once you
let go of the clutch. good luck man.
i've only used the back brake one time when i was about to fall backward. i
was trying to scrape my brake light and it started to go backward on me.
and i honestly think stand-ups are easier then sit downs. i think you tend
to have more control when your standing up. the only thing is, it's hard to
guage how high you are.
@galeenza it was very scary. it's not a natural feeling being on one wheel.
after i got used to it, it felt great. just take it very slow and don't try
to rush things to fast. do what feels comfortable but still push yourself a
little. i got scared and nervous every single time. you just have to have
respect for the bike
what about your hero jason britton look what he drives. just go sit on both
bikes and whatever feels comfortable go for it. they are just about the
same power and speed wise. but all i'm saying is most of the guys out here
who stunt, have gixxers, and the guys who wanna cruise ride yamahas. what's
your preference?
ya i noticed when i put my front wheel the the front peg, i'm not as
relaxed and i'm bent to much trying to hold it up, when i put my left foot
on the back peg, i can stand up straighter and get more relaxed which makes
it easier doing mile long wheelies. give it a shot, and hope to see more
movies soon.

Great video man! I really like the angle! I'm glad that you mentioned the
wind factor. I used to hate riding the CBR250 when it was windy because it
would blow me dangerously to the edge of the road if a sudden gust hit. . .
but on my Gixxer, I don't hardly even notice the wind! Also, be prepared to
get a ton of comments about how you can't campare these two bike! I had to
put a annotaion in my video to warn the trolls that they would get block if
they left such an ignorant comment!
thanks mate. down blip is habit now. practice good habits early and they
stay with you for life! I was getting sick of looking up vids of bikes and
just getting a spec sheet if you know what i mean.
Don't rush into to anything to quickly buddy. Take every bike you can for a
test ride and see what you like. Personally though the GSXR600 is a great
transitional bike from 250 to 600.
the first step to riding is a helmet. i broke my shoulder the first day i
got my bike and thank god i had a helmet on.. the bike is more powerfull
and easy to get away from you if your not comfortable with it...
even if it is a fake.. it looks awesome and I think its possible.. you see
so many vids where people fall of their bikes and catch it again.. but
mostly the guys who catch it again aren´t those people who have fallen down
xD.. nice vid though
