UPDATE: 6th October 2011. St. Petersburg Times reports that the cult of
scientology has not filed an appeal in the courts and has paid the $413,500
fine today. In other related news, the cult of scienology has lost a
lawsuit against the city of Sandy Springs, GA, born out of a zoning/code
dispute when the city rejected scientology's proposed alterations. Another
judgment on whether the city breached "free excercise rights" is to be
decided later (IMO unlikely, in view of the first decision).

Elli Perkins, Buffalo, New York, who died 13 March 2003 (that date again).
Her son Jeremy Perkins, aged 28, an untreated schizophrenic, killed his
mother Elli by stabbing her 77 times. She bled to death on her bedroom
floor. Jeremy was found not responsible for his mother’s murder by reason
of insanity. His surviving relatives – his father, sister and
brother-in-law – are still Scientologists and have disconnected from Jeremy
to preserve their hope of eternity.

The City called it a "self inflicted shell game" The board was unimpressed
by the cult of scientology. They wanted to be treated special yet they also
wanted to be treated like the majority who make an honest attempt at code
compliance or through hardship request large fine reductions.cancellations.
The city and board ws having none of their bullshit. Their attorney's
failed to impress with their irrelevant history of other cases.

Scientology "superpower" and postulates failed. "Ecclesiastical Leader"
David Miscavige's micromanagment and arrogant presumption turned right
round and bit him in his midget ass. They should consider themselves very
lucky that they got a fair $38,000. If they don't pay it and if they don't
appeal to the court within 30 days then the fine goes back to the full
$451,500.

So that woman talking about all the other sites whose permits had expired
and where a stop order was issued, and how the SP building was the only one
cited. Yeah, but it's DOWNTOWN AND TAKES UP A WHOLE BLOCK! Not the same
thing as a laundromat renovation, I'd say.

South Park actually got everything right about Scientology. I was telling a
friend about Scientology and he was like "You mean the guys from South Park
