Admitting MORE "fake" selfies that I've posted online
Did you like this video? Lets be honest! @izzzydavis and @izzythatfruitbat on instagram. www.facebook.com/izzythatfruitbat.
There's nothing fake about wanting to look pretty, putting on makeup, doing
your hair or taking a bunch of selfies before getting the right one. We all
do it, no matter how much or how little followers we have. Also, taking
multiple pictures before getting the right one isn't a horrible thing to
do. Nobody is expected to pick up a camera and take the right picture the
first time round. Staging a photo isn't bad, either. Nobody looks at
someone's social media platform and assumes that they look exactly how they
do in their selfies 24/7. Nobody will post pictures of themselves taking a
shit or crying. We want to post the pretty, happy moments in our life and
that's not an evil thing to do. Obviously, social media isn't real life.
This isn't a new concept. We've heard this all before. Nothing new. Nothing
world changing. My personal opinion is that this whole "movement" is
unnecessary and a complete waste of time.
+Dima A THANK YOU! i've been saying this but no one seems to agree with me obviously we know not everything in social media is real most people even have instagrams themed like an art style, it doesn't matter if someone knows you in real life then they know who you are. I think they're making a big deal out of something completely stupid.
+plantifulalexandra There´s nothing weong with taking pictures of one´s self, but why do you have to put on makeup in order to look good, for example? Beauty is something very subjective, but I don´t think makeup defines beauty. I think it depends more on the photographer´s skill to portray beauty than it depends on the model. If a photographer needs to cover you in makeup, or has to ask you to act a certain way in order to "get beauty" from you, he´s just meeting beauty standards, nothing else. He´s not at all being an artist, in my opinion.
+Dima A I don´t see selfies as hiding something necessarily. But that´s what selfies promote, that you only show "your best", when all of you is actually "your best". But we ourselves never get to see that. We are the ones who judge ourselves most strongly, and therefore, we try to avoid those flaws, in order to avoid feeling pain. But I think this is being fake to ourselves, and this brings more pain than joy, just because we don´t feel "pretty" if we don´t see ourselves portrayed in this or that specific angle, with this kind of makeup, lighting and clothes. And I think it is really important to realise that we are always beautiful. Normally we don´t try to be pretty for ourselves, we feel comfortable without makeup at home, for example. We try to be pretty for others, so they won´t judge us as ugly. Even if we don´t care about every single person that sees us, we feel embarrassed if we don´t meet the standards of what´s considered "pretty".
+Dima A Agree. Of course we try to look good on photos, why not? It's a kind of art. When you go to a professional photographer for a shotting, are you not putting on makeup and pose for the camera?
+azulaenortha I completely get what you mean, but I don't personally see selfies as hiding anything. Maybe showing a different side, a prettier side, but not exactly hiding the less impressive side of yourself. My idea of what fake is is pretending to be something else completely. Like promoting products that you don't use, or lying about an aspect of your life.
+Dima A To me, fake is something that doesn´t show the truth. To me, the truth is something as a whole. In this case specifically, fake is someone who is willingly hiding sides of them, and so, making themselves appear as something unreal.I´ve done it myself at times. It´s still fake to me.
+Dima A Just because "all people do it" it doesn´t mean that it´s not fake. It actually is, and you are admitting it. How can it not be fake if you are only willing to show a side of who you are?
