This is our review of a 2009 BMW 118i (E87) MY10. Rear wheel driven, 5 door hatchback, with Rear parking sensors, ABS, Airbags, Traction Control, Sunroof, ...
Howzit bud, nice review. I've seen this car come with a SAT Nav option but
don't see any screen in your vid, respond if you can share some light on
this. I'm thinking about purchasing on of these bad boys myself.
I like the honesty in your presentations, really refreshing.

+Zamani Ngidi Hey man, Thanks for your appreciation, and comment. Yeah, it's a great car. This one didn't have a SAT Nav, although I have seen them installed on this vehicle. Cheers!
+In Car Reviews I have the 4cyl.The 6cyl. is the better machine. But it needs too much fuel.Mine has exactly 218 HP. On tuesday, the 28. april it will be tuned. There are 2 Options:LS1 256 HP and 378 Nm for 949 EURO - 25 % = 712 EURO. I have to wait about 4 hours. BMW,s can not be chipped in the OBD. They will open the main processor, put the central unit out and programm it with new parameters.//skn-tuning.de/de/kategorie780.htmlOr option 2 LS2: 295 HP and 405 Nm for 1510 EURO -25 % = 1133 EURO.I get the 25 % from a friend. So i have to drive about 360 km to SKN and 360 km again to my home. I will take option one.Nearly 260 HP are enough, the car will run about 265 km/h. And it will have no problems with a damaged machine. The 256 HP are at 5500 tours and the 295 HP at 6500 tours. And that is not good for the machine. After 100.000 km it will get old. I asked my dealer and he told me, that the machine in the 125i M sport is nearly the same like in a 328i. This is no problem.2011 i chipped a 116i wit 2 l machine from 122 HP to 140 HP. But i got more: 150 HP. I drived the car with no problems for more than 35.000 km.LS 2: the machine gets a catalysator of metal and another airbox system. It will run with a speed about 280 km/h. But everyone says no: All parts of the machine are not designed for this power. And i think it will be the same result like 116i. Promised 140 HP, but realised 150 HP.No, so my friend says, most 125i get about 265 HP, some 270 HP.wish You the very best
Hey man, really enjoyed your video. I like the calm and thoughtful
presentation. Good to know how limited the space in the rear seats is!
Cheers from Oregon. :)
Hi rhymeforever, I'm glad you liked it, I enjoy making them. I hope to post a few more soon. It's a great little car, but it is a pity about the lack of backseat space. Cheers!
Appreciate the effort you put into making this video! I'm looking at
possibly purchasing one of these (an '09 model with 60km) so have been
looking around quite a bit for some good material/reviews! Cheers.
Thanks for the encouragement and kind words, Lionbeard. I hope it was helpful, and you got something out of it. I look forward to posting more in the coming weeks and months. Good luck with your purchase.
I'm thinking of getting a used one of these, perhaps 2008. Obviously I know
it's not a sports car. I just want something comfortable and reliable. Any
opinions?
+Alley Oop I ended up pulling the trigger and getting one. I'm very happy with it.The trick is that you MUST go with the Presara. The interior is actually pretty decent.Just my 2 cents.
@heytuesday23 I know what he said, it just didn't come out right for what
he meant. As for pretenders, I always thought the Civic was its own
category. It is like a blank slate that you can do anything with and
calling it a pretender is like calling a piece of paper a pretend book. You
just can't. The speed3 is also something I can't agree with because when it
first came out, it was made to compete with the WRX. "Pretenders" would be
like that stupid "Smart" car and stupid crap like that.
I've a 2011 (stick), compete at autocross regularly and he's right, 207 HP
is correct for this car. With the traction control off, the GTI has more
power than can be effectively used (wheel spin), even on a wide open
autocross setup. At 265 HP, the car would lose a great deal of composure.
I've seen people with chipped GTIs attempt to drive autocross and they lose
the car quickly and often. With 4WD, 265 HP would work but not FWD. Raw
power is meaningless if you can't put it on the road.
K20 engines are finicky with mods but they can have stuff added. When I was
saying "blank slate" i meant more like the car has no emerging
characteristic. Like an S2000, or even a Smart, has its own sort of
attitude. Civics are somewhat boring by itself. Until you put in your own
style and wants in the car, it feels bland. That is one reason why i
thought this guy in the vid was a bit... incorrect with his comparison
example. There were better examples he could have given.
Heh - I have a MK7 GTI with 315HP and 380 ft/lbs of torque (APR Stage 1),
and I get zero torque steer...and the traction control light will go off in
3rd gear on the highway too :). Never drove a MK6 like in this video, but
the MK7 is light years ahead of my MKIV Jetta GLI 1.8T which had a K04 and
other stuff in it. Can't wait to wring some more power out of it, but as
it is now, the car is effortless on the highway.
It´s true stuff! I own one like that!! I end laughing a lot alone on it,
you know why? It´s so fast gear down on dsg that my previous bmw is a
dinossaur. And what about kicking ass alfaromeus want be... I´m 39 and i
always drive gti at 240kmh while the traffic seems to be parked on the
highway, and this one corners like a pro driver. Stop thinking that i will
loose my driving license, i won´t!!
@davewhodavedunn - You are right my friend! For some reason VW have very
poor reliability scores, but that is just half the story... when time comes
to fix them, you really want to cry! There are 3 things in my list while
shopping hot hatch! 1. Fun to drive; 2. Reliability and low maintenance; 3.
Good value for the money; VW GTi scores very well in 1, but fails for 2 and
3!
25 years old and just getting started. I love America, here in the UK I'm
nearly 45 years old, studied a masters in Rocket Science and there is no
way I can afford a car, like this. Just mega-lucky I can afford somewhere
to live with such bonkers house prices. Wish I had emigrated to the US. One
day I will have a Golf GTE with a DSG gearbox.
@AkinaGod Im nott trying to argue but wouldn't any car be a blank slate? I
mean as far as performance the si has a k20 engine which is great, but it
leaves virtually no room to put, say, a turbo like the gti. Unless you plan
on bolting on some trashy body kits or spoilers, i don't see how its a
blank slate.
When the review starts with 100% WRONG information, it's hard to take The
Drivers Seat seriously: The GTI started in 1976 with 108 hp from a peaky
1.6L. The 90 hp figure was the torquier 1.8L version which launched in the
US in 1983. Credibility demands at least trying to get it right.
@bigbradford69 depends on the dealer. my dealer does not care. if you`re
worried about it and depending on the ecu software you get, you can turn it
off before brining it back to the dealer. I know for my REVO there is a
control unit I could buy to enable or disable the new mapping.
ooooh, boogie boogie boo! torque steer, frickin big deal. everyone
complains about torque steer. it's good times when a car fights back. I
wouldn't trade up my speed 3 for some numb, soul-less junk... not to say
the gti is crap, i love it. really love the big hp on the speed 3 tho.

2010 VW GTI Test Drive & Review
We drive around in the new 2010 vw GTI and see how the car drives in the real world. The 2010 VW GTI is the sport model of the VW Golf. The one we drive has ...
no doubt in my mind man i turned 17 on june 12 and my parents surprised me
by buying me a 2011 VW GTI base...the cloth seats even the single disk CD
player comes standard with bluetooth which is awesome on the way back from
houston where we bought it and a dog ran out in the road and we hit it :( i
just dropped it off in the body shop the only thing that happened to the
car was the fog light needs to be wired again and the plastic brackets on
the bumper need to be replaced so it can go back on
@Xeyad1 - Oh... My mistake. I just went online and discovered that it is
spelled with a "C" by the British. I get it now... Beatles / Beetles... Oh
well... I learn something new everyday. Thanks for letting me know. i'll
certainly give your suggestion serious consideration the next time I review
my "hater" comments, as you "British" call them. Thanks for watching though
and drive safely over there...:) Steve
@beachchilly - Well that's quite an enlightening observation you have
there... I'd like to think I'm more of a work in progress though, rather
than having reached the zenith or "total" of anything... So I'm betting
that if I try hard enough... that even I can discover newer and greater
forms of "douche-ness" to daze, glaze and amaze you with! Thanks for the
compliment though..:) Steve
i just love it man its an amazing car i love everything about it i got the
2 door gray one with DSG. its so smooth on shifts and for a sport
suspension that handles like a dream the ride is damn good. its a perfect
first car just a little high on the insurance with the turbo
I have the new GTI and its amazing ! but he is right it is kind of a rough
drive especially on our crappy american roads! but still an amzing car.
love it and can only recommend it.. too bad we dont have an autobahn to
fully test its potential ..
Couldn't watch to the end... Douche was too damn irritating, Amateurs
thinking they have chops, terrible, embarrassing to watch. Total salesman
vibe, Guido, greasy, sleazy used car impression.
Great car, but couldn't notice any difference in performance between this
model that I test drove recently and the previous model MKV which I drive,
so not much reason to upgrade for now.
@srk7555 wow, you got me! However, sir, I also believe that LICENCE is
correct in British English :) Anyways, next time just save yourself from
all the hater comments, and drive yourself!
You can tell this guy likes doing car reviews and selling cars. Honest
review about the drivability of this car. Enough power not to be boring and
yet tame enough to be a daily driver.
It's Direct "INJECTION",not "Ignition"! Nice review, otherwise. (and you are
right- the ride is STIFF!) I am on the fence about getting it because of
that one(big),thing.
@egptnwarrior22 - It's actually spelled "Kerndt"... and I'm the Director of
Training actually. Close enough though..:) Thanks for watching our video!

2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Video Review
Justinpritchard.ca video review of the 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT-- filmed and tested in Northern Ontario.
Good review. This is the first one of yours that I have listed to. My only
suggestion? Talk slower, unless you have some sort of artificially short
time constraint you are trying to stick with. It sounded like you were
running all your sentences together.
hey! i dont own them-- only review and hand them back to subaru. I've
driven both generations. I personally liked the older one better because it
felt sportier to me, but this new one is just as quick and a lot more
comfortable
@Loscaldazar i am a subaru fan! its true though. Two friends and loyal
subaru owners agreed, this new GT is missing some of the bite and feel of
the older ones. Even my father, who drives an 05 GT wagon agreed.
Great review! I have an 07 LGT with the Manual transmission and am gonna
drive it until the wheels fall off, then I will probably get one of these.
I haven't driven an '11 yet, Have you owned both cars?
Great review with the turbocharger demo! I have a 2010gt and the first 24k
miles have been great. I don't know about the 2011gt but the 2010 sticker
price on mine was only 32k not high 30's.
This video review is about 2007 BMW 320i. Just me learning how to make some videos with one of my favorite subjects, "Cars". I hope to get better as a ...
+Ze Germanz oh of course a straight 6 cylinder 3 litre would be amazing on manual! A shitty 4 cyl 2 or less litres is only for commute. Manual would be pointless
+Bogdan K They are drivers cars, having an auto sucks a lot of the enjoyments out of them. I own an auto (not a 3 series for my daily commute which is an hour and a half of solid traffic). I own manual 3 series and would never want an auto, being able to freely rev and get the rear end sliding is too much fun to get an auto.It would be like buying an auto supercar, it defeats the point.
+Lucas San Juan Hi Lucas,I have assumed you are talking about the 2009 318i with no extra's. So with that in mind, please let me expand on my earlier comment. There is a bit of a difference with the 2009 318i and the 2007 320i (150hp) when it comes to fuel economy. The 320i being slightly more powerful, seems to offer better fuel economy, most likely due to it not having to work as hard. However emissions are a little worse than the 2009 318i. Other than that I haven't come across anything that sticks out. Given it is 2 years younger than the 320i in the video, and has only 20,000 miles, it is probably worth a look.As a word of general caution when buying any second hand car I would do a search on "common issues with ...insert car make, model, year". I say this because the BMW 4 Cylinder engines have had their issues with oil leaks in recent years. (The 6 cylinder and diesels seem to have a better reputation). Around the 60,000 Mile (100,000Km) mark, they start to need seals replaced, which can be expensive. Again this depends on the car, but something to look out for. If you are buying second hand car, I would always get it checked over by a qualified independent mechanic who knows they brand and type of car. And always have a bit of $$ (about 10% of cost of car....is my general rule) tucked away to cover any unforeseen repairs may need to be done after purchase. I hope this helps. Good luck.Paul.
Hi paul, thanks for the answer, i'm looking to buy a 318i 2009 with 20000 miles aprox and 143hp, besides the hp is any other noticiable diference with the 320i?, thanks.
+Lucas San Juan Hi Lucas, It has about 150 Horsepower (110kW at 6200rpm). Not overly powerful, but a comfortable ride and a solid car. Thanks for the question.Cheers,Paul.
