My boyfriend is leaving for basic in June. I was wondering if I'd be able
to go to the family day. I really want to go with his family to see him
graduate, but I know family day is the day before graduation and if I can't
go then I won't be able to see him graduate.
haven't decided yet choosing between F/A-18 aviation mechanic or drone pilot plan is to become a fighter pilot btw meps was the most incredibly boring thing i have ever gone through
Whats his MOS? My sons is 1391 Bulk Fuel Specialist. I think i have to go down and get him next weekend for the 96 hr Labor Day Liberty................n then i get to bring him back too lol
Hell. These bad ass Marines are very forunate to have a family graduation
day.All I had at my graduation day at Fort Jackson was a hell of a lot
yelling and a lot of bad news orders for some troops to be assigned to
Vietnam, my heart really went out to them, seriously.I remember the real
young troops were asking everone where is Vietnam???"poor bastards! I knew
where Vietnam was.My mother must have done some serious praying, my oldest
brother and I didn't have to go to Vietnam. Thanks GOD and Mom
+Brandon Bennetzen Who said that?? WHO THE FUCK SAID THAT? Who's the slimy, piece of shit little twinkle-toe cocksucker that just signed his own death warrant???
A 21st century Marine told me that the 70s was the LAST best era of the
United States Marine Corps. It was a time, when MEN were REAL MEN, Drill
Instructors WERE allowed to hit you to build you into a REAL MAN, and NONE
of the 21st century liberal crap were forced in the Corps during the 70s.
Still, even in this era, the Marine Corps is still just about the same
Corps that our forefathers served in.
+Charles Taylor What was the "last" formal question your D.I.'s asked the platoon the night before graduation. If you're for real you will know the answer to the my question.
+Charles Taylor BTW I wasn't the one that turned them in, Our senior DI was the first to go and then another Di was choking a recruit with his boot while the guy was on his back on the floor, that young man reported it and the DI was gone the next day. I never said it was legal for them to do,but it did happen. I dam sure hope they were better than that after that era.
+Angel Aldape I went thru in 76 and I can tell you they did dam sure hit you. I took an ass whooping for slap boxing another devil pup and another one for smoking on fire watch lol. You had to stand at attention in the gear locker while the DI'S took turn slugging you in the chest area without flinching or it earned you another slug. Call me a liar if you like but it sure did happen and I knew of many recruits getting hit slugged kicked and we figured we could take it because if you were caught by the enemy and couldn't handle pain you were in deep trouble. We lost 2 DI's in my platoon for assaulting recruits. Platoon 207 3-31-76 PI. Semper fi.
+TEX “TELLITLIKEITTIIS” TRUTHER old school DI spoke to us in boot camp and said they used to beat recruits. they had a baton they carried and used. look it up.
+Annie Child most of the "Marines" who claimed to be beat up in boot camp at MCT were exaggerating trying to impress their gfs like stolen valor idiots.
+Angel Aldape I highly, highly doubt that they ever had their Drill Instructors physically beat them. So many Marines exaggerate this. I went through Parris Island in 2008 and our Senior Drill Instructor was placed on paid leave for about a week while they were investigating a recruits allegations that they were physically beat. it just doesn't happen like that anymore without someone finding out and Drill Instructors being punished. When I was in MCT after boot I cannot tell you how many guys would sit there and tell their girlfriends or friends back home how they got the shit beat out of them and how bad ass they are now because of it. yeah... nope didn't happen.
my friend was a 2000 graduate from Marine Corps boot camp and I told him my uncle went in the 70s and for that he told that was a good era, because DIs were allowed to hit you for messing up big time not just minor mistakes.
+TEX “TELLITLIKEITTIIS” TRUTHER Well, your friend is sadly mistaken about ANYONE being permitted to STRIKE YOU! The ONLY time a D.I. is permitted to lay his HANDS UPON YOU is to correct the position of ATTENTION! PERIOD!ANY D.I. that laid his HANDS on you for ANY OTHER REASON would risk being COURT MARTIALED!
+60esp You know what is funny is that the Soviet troops would shout the same, Ourah during the charges against the Spanish Division, the SS Police Division and the Estonian SS Division. This Ourah yell as they charged to their deaths. I just learned of this last year in a book. As far as a good kick in the ass, I hear the French Foreign Legion still kick ass like that to their recruits. I wonder if the Russians still do the beatings as well. Did you go to Vietnam?
+apple gummy I was at Parris Island in June July and half of August 1968 and our Senior Drill Instructor was named SSGT.. James Davis and he was a very slim man and one of our two other D.I.'s was a big Black man who was as big as Jim Brown the awesome pro football player for Cleveland I believe and he was about 6 foot 2 inches tall and weighed about 230 pounds and after about 10 of our fellow recruits didn't qualify of the Rifle Range with their M-14 rifles he had us all march around the squadbay and he hit each one of us in the belly with his strong punch. I only liked four points from Expert but he did that to us all. We shot at targets from 200, 300 and 500 yards and I have been wearing glasses since I was about 7 years old. I now just thought of the Black D.I.'s name, SSgt. Goolsby. Oh well maybe I am still here thanks to all the physical punishment I received at Parris Island and later USAF Reservist. Ourah Recon 1970-71!
+1pilot2000 Nothing has changed. Trust me on that one.If you have seen Full Metal Jacket, everything you see in the barracks scenes is EXACTLY as it WAS when I was in and still is today.Google R.LEE ERMEY, the actor who played the drill instructor in the movie then you will understand why he played the part so well. He WAS a USMC drill instructor before he left the Corps.
Graduating Navy boot camp was not like this it was the ceremony drill and
our RDC's (DI) didn't give any fucks about our families they left
immediately lol.
+windell0121 About five of us were held after Basic (for a week), before being sent to Airborne School (Army PSYOP), and yes, the Drills are quite human! They have the most important job in the Military, which is why we remember their names and respect them till the day we die.
+windell0121 yeah man im not in the US army but when i passed my countries basic a few weeks before passing out parade they gave us implicit instructions not to give them gifts or hug them or thank them at the time we thought that they were joking but no they we'rent by the end we did want to give them gifts we got around the rules though what we did was each section (squad) in the platoon got together and during leave we all chipped in to by gifts then just left them on our desks (4 people to a room where i am) with notes not directed at anyone when we left my section got our Corporal a bottle of blue label you spend 3 months with these guys you get attached to them
@vikelu Its from a DVD that Marine Corps applicants get when they swear in
to the Corps. We get a cool and very comfortable Polyester shirt, a silver
box with VERY important and useful information. The DVD comes with the box.
It wasn't that informative to me it was motivating. I had to do my own
research to get the answers I wanted.
In Honor of SSgt Lavancher and Sgt Benninger and Sgt. Jones of Platoon 3010
3rd Marine Batallion Oct1975. These men were our DIs and are the finest
Marines in the Corps. Thank you for turning a punk/ me into a man and a
Marine. Semper Fi... Do or Die! For America! For the Marine Corps! Cpl D.
C. Griffin
@PHMOSER1 Why not, as much as it means for any Drill Instructor to train
the next generation it means just as much to me to recruit the next
generation, without the recruiter the Drill Instructor wouldn't have a job.
Plus any DI will tell you that recruiting duty is a lot harder then Drill
Instructor.
“Those who are truly destined to become Marines will one day wake up in
boot camp, while those who toy with the notion of becoming a Marine as if
anyone can just become one, will continue to do just that.”
how come some times i see on family day the marines are wearing woodland
MARPAT camo, and my friend who jsut graduated from 3rd Bn. Lima Co. wore
desert MARPAT on his family day/graduation?
My brother had his graduation here! His name is Dan. He is now in
Afghanistan right now surving our country and United States Marine
Corps!!!!! Stay safe Dan. Love You
Semper fi! love the marines! love the corp 2 months till i can test myself
to make myself into a united states marine I will overcome bootcamp to earn
the title!
What's the drill instructor's name who talks at the beginning with the ears
that stick out to the side? Is it, by any chance, Drill Instructor Seargent
Andrade?
I graduated with all these Marines, October 6th 2006. I was in November
Company, Platoon 4033! I can't believe I found this video on here. Miss you
