I am making a cake for a friend today and have made extra just so I can try
this out. I think if I keep it chilled and chill between each step it
should work.will let you know.
+Dalton Cupcakes did not get the chance due to work but it is still on my to do list. I have come across a new version of buttercream done in a processor which is supposedly good for piping detail so I will give that a shot.i will let you know how it goes it is just madly busy for me right now.
+Noreen Abel Thank you!I've never tried to pipe with buttercream before. But I'm not sure if it would be stable enough to do over-piping like this design.(If you give it a go with buttercream, and it works, please let me know though!).

@liddieg7 "Fabulous Party Cakes and Cupcakes" was written with all levels
of cake decorators in mind including beginners. In the book I take you
through all the different processes and offer suggestions as to how you can
sometimes simplify or personalise the designs. If you get stuck then as you
have already done - you can easily contact me for help. Have a go and feel
free to send me pictures of your cakes - it might be nice to put together a
readers gallery or something sometime.
@liddieg7 Yes I used a pink food colour paste which is thicker than the
liquid food colours. These are available from any cake decorating equipment
shop (look up your nearest in the phone book or on-line) They are also
available from many cake decorating shops that offer an online service -
google food colour pastes and you'll be spoilt for choice! I also noticed
last week that Hobbycraft stock food colour pastes in their Cake decorating
section.
The buttercream is actually a pale cream colour made using double the
amount of icing sugar to butter. You can make a white icing by substituting
white fat for the butter and adding a dash of vanilla or almond essence for
flavour. Hope this helps. Carol
Did you get the rose that colour by using colour paste? If so- where do I
get some in the UK? In Tesco and Sainsbury's they only have the liquid
stuff. Very good video's. I love them! P.S. Would you recommend that book
for beginners?
This is exactly what I was looking for - how to make a rose out of fondant,
without having to buy cutters or others equipment. So simple yet beautiful.
Thank you very much! I'll check out your books as well :)
