Professional large format printers are extremely expensive, time consuming and costly to learn, profile, supply, and maintain. They fail often, and are costly to repair, and need to be replaced when no longer feasible to repair or when supplies are no longer available. The inks and papers are far more expensive than professional quality prints from online photofinishers, which are more convenient and take up far less time as well. The dye sub printers, while speedy, are extremely poor quality.

not quite..your average user probably does not need a Large Format printer. But for those who sell prints the price is good. I bought a 5100 (from B&H) and after selling ~11 prints i have paid for the cost of the printer. Its not hard to learn and i have full control of my entire workflow. Paper is not expensive! Roll paper and volume of ink i get is far more cost efficient than any little desktop printers. Anyone looking for a Large Format printer probably knows what they are doing.

I can't tell about the large printers, but for 4"x6", you can't beat the (Sony) Now DNP Snaplab! I have two of them, one for 4"x6" the other for 5"x7".

Very nice video! Straight to the point. I don't use PVC anymore but a more open air concept. I do love the booth (curtain, drapes, the inflated domes). If it takes me more than 15 minutes to setup, I need help (assistant).
