at 1080p, the framerate on the Foscam is too low (as demonstrated in this video).  At least the Amcrest unit offers better image quality. As for functionality, the Amcrest unit has a far superior recording interface (demonstrated in the Amcrest video).

They have released 2 firmware, each one improving on the quality. It has improved but not the point where I would recommend this camera over other models.

Thanks for the review! I was delighted with the C1 and was actually thinking of getting a C2 like the other guy said, but after looking at your review I probably would just stick with C1. Also comparing to my other cams, the sound quality of C1 is actually quite acceptable....

Damn that is really a shame, was looking forward to upgrading from the C1. The wider viewing angle is great. What I will say, is that the new foscam ios app that came out with the C1 is my favorite.

Yup, the blue Foscam app is a huge jump forward. Looks like they have been investing a lot into the web interface too.

Maybe I missed this but what is the max size micro sd card and minimum class speed? Also, does it loop record?

I just gave up on buying any Foscam product. They can't manage their website, which uses the same technology they are selling. Looks like they are just as good at advertising.

Hey Doug,Our apologies, we've added an annotation for that. The dimensions to be exact are 3.5 x 1.5 x 0.6 inches for the FHC994 itself.

May be some kind of compulsion that causes someone to fixate on the phrase when listening and subsequently be unable to simply filter it out as most people probably could. Maybe there's a study on it somewhere.  Didn't seem a big deal to me.

Hey Ed,The FHC994 doesn't have IR, but it has a day/night mode. You can switch the camera to night mode using the custom software shown near the end of the video. You can also set it to switch automatically between day and night mode. Even though it doesn't have IR, the low light sensitivity on the camera is quite clear, the sensor sensitivity is 1.3V/Lux-Sec.

It does makes sense, because this is what computers do, track data. But still, no one thinks about all information anyone can get just by looking at your IP Address. It is kind of creepy, if the wrong people are scamming on your IP Address lets say telemarketer targeting your IP address for sales, or a hacker messing with you personally, but then you could be thinking dreamy thoughts of Ed McMann looking for you to deliver that Publisher's Clearing House Million Dollar Check. Smile, wink, wink!

Let's say you had one of these and it had no ethernet connection at was just plugged into the power. If it isn't linked to anything with an ethernet cable can you view it in any way or is the cable necessary

Yes it will switch to infrared mode at night if you want it to.

It depends on how fast your wifi is. The monitor will tell you how fast it is transmitting the image. Our is usually on real time, but it the wifi slows down it can be about 5 seconds behind. I haven't noticed any serious delays. The part that takes the longest is when you originally login to view the monitor. It takes a minute or two to get up and running.
