I had an AU Fairmont Ghia, bought it in 99 as an ex Demo. The dealership
had put it on Tickford suspension and 17" rims. It had black leather and
was finished in 'Sparkling Burgundy'. Loved that car very dearly, all I
ever did to it was tint the windows, put a subtle cat back exhaust on it to
give a bit of a note and polished it, a lot. Drove it Sydney to Perth and
back twice and still regret selling it. Preferred it even to my more recent
'Octane' BF2 XR6.
G'day ...GREAT CARS BOTH....What about the dear old 4.0 litre Falcon
,Aussie developed engine eh... Indestructable....powerful ,tune-able ,
turbo-able bulletproof.. Holden must cringe with envy comparing their
yank...V6s with it...Great stuff thanks Cheers Rod...
Problem turned out to be a small crack in the intake manifold gasket next
to cylindar 6 , this was sucking in air during high vacuum and making
number 6 lean and miss-fire, with the Air conditioner on the idle
controller opens a little to pick up the RPM and this reduces the manifold
vacuum making number 6 less lean, and enough to fire properly.
G'day...My AU2 had exactly same issue...exactly same intake manifold
fix....Also have a BA....Was missing under load ..turned out to be a Coil
pack on number 6...Repair cost $59.....
