1999 NLCS Gm6: Braves advance on walk-off walk
10/19/1999: The Braves advance to the World Series as Kenny Rogers issues a bases loaded walk to Andruw Jones in the 11th inning of Game 6 Check out ...
When Mike Piazza hit the home run to tie the game it was like the Leyritz
home run that turned around the series in '96. I really thought the Mets
would be the first team to come back from 3-0 after that home run.
I know Rogers threw the game but remember that Benitez blew a save in the
10th and I always disagreed with walking the bases loaded. You can loose on
a sac fly or a cheezy base hit. Always make the other team beat you - don't
give it to them. You'll have a better chance throwing out a runner if he
starts from second base rather from third.
+Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot the sad thing is if we had made the plays we should've won game 1 and we blew game 3 after a nice lead and Glavine pitching well
+Ludvig Borga My best friend and I felt the EXACT SAME WAY. We both literally said, "They're gonna come back and win the whole fucking series!" I knew I wasn't the only one. The Braves had that spectre of blowing it in the playoffs, 1995 aside. So yeah, it was a huge sigh of reilef, but I also felt they were dead men walking against the Yankees.
As a Braves fan I was stunned . After we went up 5-0 and Millwood was throwing well I thought it was over . As far as the bases loaded thing the Braves two best hitters were coming up Chipper and Jordan and A jones was a big strike out guy so I kind of get why they did that
What a way to lose the NLCS. Mets didn't look so, "Amazin." there. Lol.
What burns me about The Mets, is that they have been poorly run, by the
Wilpons. In the biggest market in the world (N.Y.C.) there is no excuse why
the Mets have only 2 World Championships. Get rid of the Wilpons and put
some real ownership in there, and have a fantastic team, year in and out.
The Yankees have 27 Championships!! Realistically if the Mets were run the
proper way, they would have 15-20 Championships. I know they are doing
fantastic this year. But that should be every year. It's been 9 years since
The Mets have been to the Playoffs! That's awful! Yes this year they are
going to the Playoffs without a doubt. They may even win The World Series
this year. Being they are a New York team, they should be playoff bound
yearly. Enjoy this season Mets fans, and best of luck to you. It might be
the last great season for years to come. The Mets win a World Series
averagely, every 25-30 years. So if you win this year, enjoy it. until the
next time in 2045. The best thing for Mets fans, is to get rid of The
Wilpons and get a real owner that thrives on winning.
+Earth Ruler Even me, as being a Yankees fan, its sad to see the Mets being run by the Wilpons. But regardless of the Wilpons, the Mets have the right players, to go on a run (Year in and out) for the playoffs, for the next few years. Given that the team continues to hit. The Mets have an excellent rotation. I see no reason why, they can't be playoff bound, for the next 4-5 years. As far as the Wilpons go, I don't understand why (Being in the biggest sports market, in the world, there namely, NYC) they don't spend money on players, to have a great team. If they spent the money, the attendance will increase to the maximum. Plus all the endorsements they would make, by constantly having a championship caliber team, year in and out. The Yankees proved, that you can spend alot of money on players, win lots of Championships, and make money. They are both in the same city. There's no reason for the Wilpons to run and treat the Mets, as if they were The Colorado Rockies.
+Daniel Trimboli As a Mets fan I want disagree with you and defend my team, but you're right. Maybe not EVERY year but the Mets should be making the playoffs far more often than they have in the past. In 2006 I thought we'd start a run for a few years of making the post season but nope. I hope this year is the start of that run I was expecting back in 2006. And yes Wilpon still sucks despite this year (2015).
+thedemon Why is that could be because they swept the Braves and got the job done and your mets stayed home watch the Yankees celebrate and have the Parade in NYC.
+vccstudents Not until the A's Terrence Long in that trade. Consider Billy Beane also deal BILLY TAYLOR to the Mets to get Isringhausen and Greg McMichael, it's a wonder those clubs even interact with each other anymore.
