Okay wtf? I've heard of a i7 4770k but on NewEgg I currently am eyeing a
computer with an i7 4770s? Never heard of a 4770s, I'm gunna be running my
gtx 770 with 16gbs of RAM, this is my first build by the way, I already
need to get a stronger power supply cause of the 770.
Any info? I've been debating STRONGLY on either the AMD 8350 OR an Intel,
AMDs heat up terribly fast I've heard, I do gaming AND video editing btw.
The Core i7 4770s is a low power version of the standard I7 4770. It's clock speed is cut back, and the power saving features of Haswell set to "aggressive powersave" making it only use 65w of power. The Core i7 4770s is meant for people who want performance, but have a sub par motherboard that can't handle the full 84w of a standard i7. Most prebuilt PC's have such motherboards.
+planb1532190The only place I have near me is a Tiger Direct and they charge out the ass for products. I'm getting my PC pre built but everyone I've soon charges at least 10% more than what you listed.Idk, I've heard mixed reviews for the AMDs as well as the Intel processors
if theres a microcenter near you, they have lowest processor pricing for both amd and intel, I know the i5 4670k's are $180, and the i7 4770k's are $250, all the others are proportional in price
The socket install is all good....unless you have an ASRock board that came
with bent pins...lots of them....then you tried to bend a few back and it
doesn't help....so you RMA it only to have newegg tell you that you broke
it....I got an ASRock Extreme4 board that had pins bent 180° from where
they should be! I had pins that didn't even clear the surface of the bed,
their tips were sitting flush to the hole they came out of! But...it's MY
fault!! Goddamit newegg!!! /rant sorry guys
I don't think that those stupid logos on the bottom corner are ever big
enough. How about one dead center that takes up half the damn screen? And
yeah, always tighten the cooler while the motherboard is flexing on a
carboard box.
I have a question for you guys. I recently bought a Motherboard/CPU. Will I
need a new HDD or have to reinstall windows for it to work, or can I just
pop it in and be good to go (Note: CPU/Mobo are all that is new).
The chipset is on the motherboard. But the two most common/best chipsets
for lga1155 are H77 and Z77, the latter being aimed at overclockers. So you
want a decent H77 motherboard.
Newegg TV: Intel Sandy Bridge-E Review and Benchmarks - Core i7 3960X CPU & Socket 2011 X79 Platform
//www.newegg.com | CPUs: //bit.ly/tr178l There's a lot of hype surrounding the Sandy Bridge-E launch, but how fast are these new processors that Intel ...
@StraightShooter01 no at all just read the comments below... comments
saying that crysis 2 will be gods wrath. Intel know that the heavy
multitasking people will notice the extra ram slots already and are trying
to market their new cpu's to people who have no need for it to make an
extra buck(million-billions of them). Not even that thought people do not
really realize that these cpu's are heavily over priced and not that more
powerful and even bigger. Intel has people rapped in their fingers.
Really appreciate your candor with your closing comments on the x79
platform. Intel appears to be aggressively marketing this platform to
mainstream gamers when it is clearly major overkill. The x79 platform is
clearly a workstation class platform where the only significant
improvements would be experienced with enterprise applications as you
mentioned. BF3 does indeed runs extremely well on a 2500k for 1/5th the
price and should do well for a couple years. Intel is mismarketing this
platform
@StraightShooter01 Not Entirely, IM using an X58 Platform now as a
Workstation/Gaming Platform. The Chipsets are ideal for A/V rendering.
These platforms are designed (in my opinion) to be workhorses and provide
some entertainment in the mix.. Bare in mind... they are also setting
things up for the next generation of Gaming and OS which should prove to
jaw dropping insane. This may sound strange .. I Used Macs for 20 years and
I just built my own PC this year.. They are just insanely faster.
@papas182 Really .. Macs are nice and i was even considering building a
"Hackintosh" (Still might) .. But when you need speed .. I wasn;t about to
drop $4000 on a new Mac Pro .. I got the same results for about $1300 with
my Rig. Actually a bit more because i just updated my GPU: GIGB X58-UD3R
Core i7 950 6 GB 1033 RAM Corsair AX 750 Corsair 600T case Samsung 128 SSD
WD 1 TB CAV Black HD RADEOn 5970
@StraightShooter01 a i5 2500k ? heck!! even my 1 year and half i5 760 runs
BF3 with no problems at ultra it only use the 85% of the processor @ 1920 x
1080 who ever buy this X79 platform for gaming hes either an idiot or a
rich MOFO who only want to show off :) the X79 as you said is a workstation.
If you mean the CPU, then the only problem is that it's covered by a
cooler. However, yes. These beautiful components don't get looks just
because the manufacturer felt like it. I personally find blue anodized
motherboard component coolers gorgeous against a black PCB.
Ah I meant PC, but yeah the colors are like blood/crips rivalry. (intel
blue vs AMD/ATI red). And from an engineers standpoint, I see it as the
more colorful components on the motherboard - other than your basic black
IC - the more advanced and powerful it 'looks'
@RustyRazor2010 Toddler, usually it's alot more pleasant to watch him talk
about stuff if he'd look more into it. He just looks plain boring and like
he's afraid of the camera. Makes the watcher uncomfortable.
@waseem1173 Defnetly not. just check the cpubenchmark site. 3960X is 14,846
and 3930K is 14,464. A difference of 382. This mean that you wont notice
ANY difference doesnt matter what you do
Would really like to see a comparison between the 3960X and 3930K. Lets see
if the 3 extra MB's of L3 cache on the X processor is worth the 5 hundred
dollar price increment.
//www.newegg.com | CPUs: //bit.ly/tr178l Enthusiasts everywhere have reason to celebrate, as Intel has released the their new Socket 2011 computing ...
The GPU has very little to do with simulation rendering. The plotting for
the bones are all done in the cpu. The GPU renders the movements but the
CPU calculates how the polygons will move. That is a very big difference. I
am 90% sure that if you tried to generate a simulation for a model with 800
bones would get you some lag, for ones higher then that it would start to
process each move for each polygon individually. My I7 still has some
trouble with it but just lags on a 1600 bone model.
It depends, and it also depends on your price. Xeon's are more expensive
for a similar processor. The xeon E5-1660 has 6 cores, 15MB of L3 cache,
which is exactly the same as a 3960x and very similar to a 3930k (which has
3MB less cache), and the E5-1660 runs at 3.3GHz, same as the 3960x and
0.1GHz higher than the 3930k, BUT the E5 can't overclock where as the i7's
can, and thus you can't get as much performance out of it. advantage of a
xeon is that you can put up to 4 on 1 mobo
bro, I like AMD and all, but the clockrate doesn't mean anything. At all.
Same thing with the amount of cores. It all comes down to the performance.
Look at cinebench results. You'll find that the best thing for the money is
the AMD fx 8350, agreed, but the 3930K kills it, and yeah, you're right
about the 3960X being a ripoff, coz that's all it is, a rip off. The best
option right now is the 3930K if you don't have a budget, but if not, then
yeah, go AMD...
You don't need a 6 core for gaming only. You don't even need a 4770k for
gaming. You need a good Gpu, I would suggest SLI or Crossfire depending
which way you go. Also, for a gaming PC i5 3570k or i7 3770k are good for
2013 builds. If you wish to over-spend and future proof your rig, go with a
i7 4770k, but it's an overly gross way to dispose of income on a gaming PC.
Due to budget, I'm switching to a mini-ITX + lan box setup. I'll still go
with a higher end chipset. Socket 1155 with an Intel i7-2700K. The "K" -
based on my research - allows me to overclock. I'll be combing it with the
ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX
Intel Motherboard with USB BIOS (Newegg).
Again technically not true. It can do most things but not everything. I am
fairly certain an I5 is not going to be able to handle high polygon model
simulation rendering in a very efficient manner. Again I also point to the
fact that the I5 only has 4 cores. They have 33% less computational power
than the I7 hexcores do.
that has nothing to do with gaming. someone who buy this cpu will it not
use for gaming. u all think about gaming but you buy one of these to do
some rendering stuff and big projekts. intel knows themselfs thats not so
much better in games BUT its also NOT build to be a beast in gaming.
@shuttakid......and I can OC my i7 and smoke your OC'd i5 if you wanna have
a pissing contest. Bottom line is these chips are the most potent consumer
grade chips in the world. Why would intel make an i5 that outperforms their
premier chip. Stop hating because you can't afford it.
Some people don't play games. They render videos or such, and an i5 ain't
gonna cut it for that. And no, you cannot overclock an i5 to match an i7's
performance. The i5 can only have 4 threads, since it's just a quad-core,
and loses in any heavily-threaded work.
the ONLY spec. difference between a 3930k and the 3960x is 3MB of L3 cache.
Yes that will improve your performance very, very, very marginally, but
it's not worth the 500$ price difference... this video is a good comparison
/watch?v=y76iQh1WpDI&feature=plcp
man, just wait till haswell chips are out. by then rumors say that ddr4
rams are going to be available as well. so if you are tied to a budget, i'd
say wait couple of more months so you dont have to feel like you need to
upgrade any time soon
Sorry, each polymesh object (a polymesh is basically a 3d object
represented by sides or polygons which are connected to another object's
sides if they are touching. This forms a mesh, or interconnected group of
objects) individually.
@Q8Police777 sandy bridge is pretty much the version of the processor for
example it is like how each year apple gives a new name to their os lion,
mountain lion, etc. Intel does the same sandy bridge and now ivy bridge
Let me tell you. The 3mb of l3 cache does a lot of wonders. It is really
useful if you run a workstation but not so useful if u play games. And the
600 dollar difference is not worth it. it should be only 200 dollars
@ThatMegaTurtle Not at all, Intel is just going full retard basically just
for the few extra mb in L3 cache you get, save the 600 and get the "lower"
end one, you won't notice a difference in performance at all.
Not for gaming. In gaming the faster single threaded performance of the
3570 will make it better. SB-E is overkill if you're just gaming. If you
want a gaming CPU, the best you'll need is the 3570k.
Clearing things out, an overclocked i5 CAN match AND outperform an
(overclocked also, if you will) i7s performance BUT in cases where the
amount of cores (i.e multitasking) isnt really important.
As someone with a gtx 680 who recently upgraded from a 3570k to a 3930k for
the sole purpose of video rendering, I can vouch that the 3930k pounds the
3570k into the ground with rendering times.
i7's are physically quadcores, but they have hyperthreading, which means
that they handle 8 threads. They're basically an octacore. Of course, there
are hexcore i7's, which handle 12 threads.
@GeoRoAdmin I am still currently on a Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 3.1GHz with a
6870 running Mountain Lion, and I can run any game on Dolphin at full speed
or higher easily =\. (Hackintosh btw)
Cinema 4D and After Effects both DO NOT support sli/crossfire, so if you
get a 690 only 1 gpu will be used, just get a gtx 680. Don't know about the
quadro lineup though.
...and not as fast as an i7. Saying that something renders "extremely
quickly" is completely pointless. "Extremely quickly" compared to what? An
i3? A phenom? A toaster?
You shouldn't get an i7 for gaming. You don't need more than 4 cores for
gaming, you can use an i3 3240 with a really high end graphics card and get
great performance
anything compared to a extreme cpu is retarted the extreme series are the
best out there atm. until Haswell E come out Sandy E will be the highest of
high end cpu
+Gaby Kos its up to you mate what you prefer if you read some reviews about both of them and watch a few vids on both coolers and the make up your mind but i will lay money on evo winning hands down :) by the way nice to see another paddy on here im from wexford
+Thecritic2013 it cost €21 in dabs.ie here in ireland. ALCU's steel blade is flat, Evo 212 has lines, look these 2 links //goo.gl/EMDbNu and //goo.gl/ivtGa9 i think flat is better?
+Gaby Kos i don't know about that one mate but if you are on a budget then trust me go with cooler master evo 212 is €30 or $30 and it is a really good cooler
