I heard that this attraction is in 3D, unlike it's counterpart in my home state of Florida. Did you ride this attraction in 3D or just 2D during the soft opening?

when I went on (Hollywood version) we used 3DS glasses. so it is 3D

Universal Studios Hollywood did had some practical sets and the only ride had a screen(s) was Back To The Future The Ride it wasn't 3D, King Kong that was on the Studio Tour was actual a Mechanical effect that stand 30 foot tall weighted 7-tons that time was that very popular until it burned downed 6/1/08. then Universal started to do more 3D rides after  King Kong 360 3D.

+Dantheman626 Yeah for us it was much earlier in the day so they must have updated it. If we get another chance to ride it before the Official April release we will record that version and put it up. This must have just been testing of the Ride Vehicle itself as we suspected.

It was in 2D for us but we had a friend who rode it an hour later and they said it was blurry like it was suppose to be 3D. They did not offer us 3D glasses. We also did not spot any changes from the Orlando version. They could have been tearing the ride vehicle and maybe the 3D effects or new footage comes closer to the Official Opening in April.

+jjw69 The ride had only JUST opened for the soft opening. We were maybe the first 100 to ride the ride, which was pretty great. As we did not expect to ride we did not have our main recording cameras with us. Usually I strap the camera to the bar itself to get the best picture possible. But as this was an unexpected ride, and we were very excited to have been selected, I was too happy and shocked to remember to get out my camera and record the experience until I was sitting on the ride itself before leaving the starting area. That's why you have a bar for this ride through! But the next one will be much better.

+[InsertGeekyNameHere] I read they're taking out the 3-D aspect of the ride, because the test audiences were complaining of nausea and headaches. Which I agree because I was one of those test audiences earlier in March

This version is way better than orlando's. The person "not in full costume" is supposed to be the little girl gymnast that they have in the movie.

No. No engraving. Just a log book. It is a book & movie reference and the JK Rowling Estate is very involved with the productions and likes to keep as many of the references as accurate as possible.

They actually keep a book with all the names and the wand that "chose" them. (Patrons sometimes go back and ask if they don't purchase their wand the day of.)

I thought the Wizarding World of Harry Potter doesn't open up until April 7th? Does it looks like the side ride in Universal Studio Florida or are their differences to them both?

To answer the question about the date, They did open it early but they are still working on a few things in the area to make it look more aesthetically pleasing and maybe more (i could be 100% wrong here, So don't quote me on any of this) They may or may not close the area to add more.
