Ontario Knife Co. SP8 Machete USA Made!
Just a small unboxing and review of my initial thoughts with the SP8 Machete from Ontario Knife Co. It's a nice piece! and I think it'll work well for me and you!
this is a excelent knife - the best mod i did to it was to file down the
teeth at the back - it saves the sheath when pulling it out and they are
basically worthless - they dont cut well and destroy a baton - with the
teeth filed down - you can even use it as draw knife and you will not need
gloves - if you file them down just enough they will hatch look to them and
add to the appearance ( if that's important to you ) BTW it is 1095 carbon
steel and full tang - one of my favorite blades - just love this fine
American made product
+cassanoa Right on man! Yeah, this is such a great blade for the price. I use it every time I head out into the woods for light brush work. It's a life saver for sure!
i'v heard a few people state that the knife is full tang but the tang does
not visibly run through the handle and out the butt end. Do you suppose
that using a baton on the butt end of the handle will destroy the handle?
i'm not talking about whaling on the end with a baton and Am only wondering
if using that knife like a chisel will hold up to performing some light to
medium duty tasks where notching is involved.
Pretty sure it's full tang, and I think it would hold up to the task that you are asking of it. This is a REALLY solid knife, you'll see when you hold it in your hand for the very first time. I've been using it in the field for quite some time now and it's held up very well. I think the notching tasks that you would put it though wouldn't hurt it one bit...
You're welcome.I despise when rude people make crude remarks to the person making the video.I've seen this on several occasions.I seriously doubt that anyone will subscribe to their videos.
I don't like when rude people make remarks about people making videos regarding reviews or explanation of the product.BarnStangz your video was okay to me.
I agree with ya! This was a pretty spur of the moment video, since I just got it out of the UPS box, but yes, next time I do some reviews I plan to have all the details with me. Hope you enjoy the SP8 if you have one, thanks!
In the video you keep saying you guess this is how much it weighs or you
guess it's carbon steel you just took it out of the box it comes with
instructions and description in the box
....actually, there was NOTHING in the box, so yes, I was guessing. I'm sure there may have been some information on the companies web, but I didn't look. Maybe if you buy this Machete you'll get some notes inside the box... Either way, it's a fine piece and has held up VERY well with all the use that I put it through!

Yeah I have been mucking around with colours and getting the videos to flow
with the music better. I like the colour grading you've done on your GoPro
videos, makes it look so much better. I'm currently looking at getting a
60D so I can get some better quality footage and will have autofocus which
the 550D lacks in movie mode. Yeah we could possibly do that some time.
