+Ryan B Well yeah, if you're making the argument that after hitting the pinnacle of #1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart this week, that the only way after that is down! =)I do think, though, that the 3rd act of her long storied career has in fact just begun, and that she's got at least one more #1 solo album left in her, before she draws a curtain on the whole solo side-project and returns full circle to No Doubt. Now what a glorious sunset that would be.It's not like she's short of material for the present. She scrapped an entire "curated" album in 2014, which included some tremendous material co-written with Sia, in favor of starting afresh with a renewed sense of purpose. That new direction culminated in a deeply-personal record that her label deemed too introspective, and too artistic (read: probably not "radio-friendly" enough). So, she returned to the studio, and promptly wrote something close two album's worth of new material, parts of which constitute the current #1 album, "This is What the Truth Feels Like". I'm guessing she'll write a few more new songs over the next year or two, re-visit some of the unreleased stuff, and turn that into a follow-up to "Truth." Then I hope she brings the leftover "artistic" stuff back to her band, and have the guys work them into No Doubt songs. That's my take anyways. Opinions, and all that.
If you like THIS IS WHAT THE TRUTH FEELS LIKE you've got to buy the Target
CD with the 4 extra songs:
13. Rocket Ship (Target Exclusive)
14. Getting Warmer (Target Exclusive)
15. Obsessed (Target Exclusive)
16. Splash (Target Exclusive)
They're some of the best songs she recorded! Well worth the extra money.
I'd pay $13.99 just for "Getting Warmer", "Splash," "Rocket Ship" and
"Obsessed,"
+walpole70 Yeah, especially "Getting Warmer" (a.k.a. "Closer to the Sun"). That song alone is worth the price of admission. Definitely worth the few extra bucks!
