If you think we're producing food in surplus, then you're only looking at
calories and not nutritive value of the underlying food. Bigger farms are
demonstrably less efficient in yield per acre because single row
monoculture is the least efficient agricultural paradigm both in terms of
yield but especially in terms of nutrient density. A mixed-use integrated
land & aquatic, animal & plant permaculture system, for example, yields
throughout all the trophic layers, generating food from the tree canopy on
down to the ground and even at the fungi layer with proper spore
inoculation of woody detritus. Plus, nutrient is captured and stored and
recycled on-site, sequestering carbon, nitrogen and other atmospheric
gasses and regenerating the soil and the microbes that feed therein. There
is no such recycling, no layering of yield and nutrient, and no mixed-use
animal, plant and aquatic biomes in a massive, single-layer monocrop like
corn, wheat, or soy.

I live close to a huge University and I know for a fact that many research
is "sponsored" by corporations with an agenda! You make it sound like I
said the scientists do it only for money, I said they cant bite the hand
that feeds them. Its a big problem that universities get less independent.
And your last statement is simply not true, are you naturally going to
cross breed a spider/potato or corn/bacteria? watch this:

There are also meny studies that say it is in fact harmfull to eat GMO's..
Its not at all proven that long term effects of eating GMO's are safe, we
just don't know yet. It is for many other reasons that GMO's are damaging
our earth. Most GMO's are "roundup ready" so you NEED to spray your crops
with herbicide(you want to live near this?) and fertilizer. Its promoting
monocrops (kills the soil). 200 kinds of corn are going to be 1 kind.. btw
Monsanto lied to us before, they care only bout profit

send you to some studies showing mice and ferrets being bred to be
resistant to poisons if you want? Science denialists use 5 tactics

poverty and conflicts are the amin reason for poverty, so why did you make
that idiotic response saying exactly the same? And look up lobby in de
dictionary, its not about wrapping everyones head its about pushing an
agenda trough politics f.e.: monsanto's vice president Michael Taylor who
was also appointed deputy commissioner of the US FDA. Taylor made crucial

Listen, you gave starving people in Africa as a reason why GM is necessary,
this is really not true. The main reasons are poverty and the violent
conflicts that prevent people to take care of themselves. Farming is for
food sounds logic right? In this society people care more about profit so
they prefer to farm for palm oil, ect.. Did you know that fertile area
about the seize of Asia is used for meat production only? Its technically
possible to feed all right now, don't believe the GMO lobby.

an interesting side note, that one of the larger food corporations that put
up money in that campaign had not that long before had an employee vote to
not allow GM foods in their work cafeteria (facts according to a show on
either sxephil or sourcefed I can't remember which). I don't entirely agree
with your point that the scientists are to blame when it comes to the
testing though. I am sure you are right in a few cases, but I believe the
management have more to do with it than the scientists

No I didn't, I know that there is enough food on this planet to feed
everyone. In fact the US throws away twice as much as would be required to
feed everyone. My issue is that you say GM food is dangerous, when there
isn't any evidence to back that claim up. You quote a debunked study, use a
greenpeace video filled with strawmen and that it won't feed Africa. It is
physically possible to create GMOs naturally through selective breeding,
DNA gets destroyed upon digestion, it's demonstrably fine

I have, and I totally agree; it's an excellent book. Again, though, I
wasn't criticising or saying I don't understand his philosophy or his book.
I was saying that his train of reasoning, as represented by this video, is
somewhat broken, and completely outside the spirit of this channel. Watch
any three videos on BigThink at random, and you'll be presented with three
coherent, unique, exciting insights. Not one of them is a book promo. My
beef is not with Tim or his book, but with this video.

GMO's trough selective breeding is impossible, you can not breed a gen from
another species into the genetics of a plant. And yes, plants/insects can
and will get resisten to roundup. Cangrats you just gave a reason why GMO's
are unnecessary. Your 5 reasons are a joke. 1) you put words into my mouth
I never said (you lie) 2) So ALL pro GMO studies are legit and all anti GMO
are fake? BS! 3) lots of monsanto's studies are also debunked 4) deformed
GMO hybrids corn is real! 5) what do you mean?

Again, name-calling will not win you any arguments. If you want to actually
start making an argument, do it. However, you're just throwing insults at
me, expecting something good to actually come out of that. Would you want
to have a civil discussion if you were on the other end of your comments? I
don't think so. Yes. It is not lobbying. Lobbying would be in the form of
payments to current politicians, not getting an employee elected to office.
That's conflict of interest, as I said before.

breed a human that is resistent to cyanide? Nature is the beautiful and
diverse product of evolution, there exist many types of corn in mexico,
that get replaced by one type of cheap corn. I'm not even talking bout the
crossbreeding that is happening there. When the man made gene is placed on
a different location, you get deformed, sick plants. What would God say of
this monstrocity? The whole thing really disgusts me..
