Hi Jake...Really enjoy this workout with my spinning bike. Definitely has
increased my energy level, and it's great to alternate with weight
training! Looking forward to the results!
As I hit my winter workouts on my spin bike, and as I essentially return to
spinning for that matter, thank you for this user friendly refresher. much
appreciated.
Hi. What's going to happen if the seat isn't adjusted in line with the hip
bone?
I'm shorter than average height and the seat adjustments for the bike I
brought doesn't allow the seat to be in line with my hip bone.
+Nelly Welly I understand. I have a few clients that share the same fitting dilemma. When you are in the saddle, let your foot drop to "6 o'clock" (aka) the base of your pedal stroke, or even called the longest stroke. Your leg should be straight (but not locked out). When clipped in (or with feet in the toe clips) and with the pedal at its longest stroke (inline with the seat post) there should approximately 25-30° bend on the knee. The rider should be able to 'drop the ankle’.There should be a slight bend in your knee. That's how you know. *Also, I sometimes tell people this: If the front of your knee is more sore than usual, you are too low. If the excess soreness occurs behind your knee, you might be too high. Thank you for watching, and riding along. We need you. :)
Thank you for your comment. I recommend 3 days of intense workouts per week. Other days can be recovery cycling or walking/jogging. good luck. I have other videos that skip the long intro explaining bike set up. Watch those as well, to get in more reps. thx.
HI Jake thanks for the video. Just got my bike today this was exactly what
I needed, helped me get setup and I enjoyed the 20min ride even though I
was screaming in pain when you added those last two runs at the end, but I
made it all the way to the end. Now I know why you insisted on the towel in
the beginning. Thanks again and I look forward to watching more of your
videos.

haha in the UK you can only ride up to a 50cc at 16 and then anything up to a 125cc at 17. you can finally take a test at 19 to ride anything bigger but I also believe there is a separate test for anything higher than a 1000cc but I'm not sure
+125 Honda in the US you can get any size motorcycle without taking a test, I'm lucky that I have the motorcycle I have here I had a bmw f650gs and I could not wait to get an f700gs (800cc) I just did not have enough money until now. It seems like the more power I have I always want to accelerate full throttle.
+Steve Mroz it's all about age in the UK bro, u can only ride a 50cc at 16 and when u turn 17 it's anything up to a 125cc and then you can take your test at 19

Beginner Cycling Tips for fitness or racing
I describe, in as simple terms as I can, what you need to do to get in shape for fitness or to race on your bike Shout out to HighCarb Teen, the future of the High ...
Every school should encourage children to walk to school or ride a bicycle
by providing safe places to lock and store bicycles and by supporting safe
walking and biking paths that connect schools, homes and businesses. Kids
would be healthier and get more exercise if parents stop driving them to
school and bought them a bicycle.
+Plant-Based Cyclist Thanks for the input. I want to commute by bicycle so maybe starting with a lower tier bike that I can commute with would be good. I really like the idea of just having one bike tho, putting all of my marbles into one bucket, so to say. I am also monitoring a hip injury (labrum, hurt while doing side splits) so I don't want to buy a bike and then need surgery or something!! Lets see how this plays out. Looking forward to more of your videos!
+Andréas Remis Yeah, buying a bike is a big decision. My first bike was a Trek 1200 Aluminum Road bike with 105 and Tiagra components and it lasted me for 8 years. Bought it new for about $850. If I were you, just getting into cycling, I would buy a lower tier bike. Ride the hell out of it, maintain it and get as many years as you can out of it. And then, after 2-4 years, re-evaluate your interest level in cycling. If it's higher and you love it, treat yourself to a nicer bike...if it's about the same and you don't see yourself riding more, keep it.
+Plant-Based Cyclist I did that yesterday. They have a 2015 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 105 for $2300. That means my bike package, including everything I need, will be around $3000. I am wondering if maybe I should get a lower tier bike as my first road bike? That way I can use it as a commuter too? I wont be able to commute with the Synapse because of theft risk. Hmmm. Or I could just put the money from the cheap bike into the Synapse... Really tough decisions for me right now!!
+Andréas Remis I would say right now. Bike SHops are trying to get rid of their old 2014 bikes to make room for 2015. I would walk in and chat with the salesman at your local bike shop.
+Plant-Based Cyclist Thanks. Hey, when is the best time to buy bikes? Specifically, when do dealers get their new shipments of bikes in and discount the last year models?
+Plant-Based Cyclist I plan to get a road bike soon and to get into riding seriously. I am 22. For the meantime, I am just riding my stationary bike at the gym. On my hard days, I will spin it at 90 RPM and 24 mph for 20 minutes. Thats about 8 miles per 20 minutes. My best has been 9.5 miles in 20 minutes. I am monitoring a hip injury that I got while doing the side splits on the beach and I am only just getting back into fitness. I am trying to make sure that I plan ahead, so that I am prepared for when I do purchase a bike. I am currently interested in the Cannondale Synapse Carbon 105. I want the endurance and carbon mix because it will be the least damaging to my body (e.g., from road bumps, long rides).
Hey, I haven't really given this much thought over the years. Honestly, I wish I had gotten more serious about riding, earlier in my career. A lot of the pros have been riding competitively since they were 5 years old, and I started riding recreationally when I was about 16. But, it's about enjoying whatever physical activity you do. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

+tijangh I rode a Harley all day today with no prior experience , no license and had no issues thanks to this video. So put that in your mouth and suck it.
+Jake Thomas, if you'd a license or a natural talent you'd need no explanation, if you'd need this explained you'd have no license or experience and I'd advice against driving this or any bike. Start with a 50 cc moped.
so lets say im going 60 n I gotta stop at a red light. I pull the clutch
and change to gear 1 then press the front breaks to stop or can I stop at
gear 3 or 4 n then go. So my question is do I have to switch to 1st gear
before I stop. Or can I just stop n wile im siting there I can change to
first gear?
Must of the times what i do is press the clutch and slowly brake while keeping the clutch pressed. However you could also down shift until first while pressing the clutch, just down let go of it until you have stopped, otherwise you might spin your rear wheels.
