If a dog nips and likes a hand in its mouth just push your fingers down its
throat and choke it for a second. They soon stop mouthing. I stopped my
mum's jack russle biting in about two days. My staff has never been mouthy
tho.
I like these dogs but wonder how they are at protecting themselves from
aggressive big dogs which seem to dominate the parks now days. My staff
gets attacked alot and doesn't even try to defend himself and the vets
bills can be high. I trained my staff to never act aggressive not even bark
but now kinda regret it when I see labs trying to tear him apart and he
just wants to get behind me.
+Asif Ifas My jack mussel doesn't bite he just shoves his toy into your heel until you throw it for him. Thought he will sometimes bite in his sleep like dog nightmares or something.
+Asif Ifas other peoples dogs shouldn't be attacking your dog therefore you shouldn't need to raise an aggressive dog. just beat the fuck out of the other persons dog having said that you sound like a fuckwit and probably shouldnt own a dog.
+Chamain Manson I had a blue heeler for 23 years. He was hit by 4 cars, and shot 3 times, once with a shotgun. At the time I lived about 3 blocks from the housing projects, and I do not think I need to explain the rest. He was the sweetest dog in the world, but man was he tough. By the time he died, his eyes were full of cataracts, and he looked like a zombie dog off pet cemetery :P
You give a command then click? different commands and yet the same click,
what is the relation to the click and the command? Also you tell the dog
"DOWN" then give him a treat as he sits up ? Sorry but i think you have
things mixed up. yes i own a cattle dog he does that and more with ought a
food reward, mine just wants my praise. In saying that - each to their own
- enjoy you dog
the clicker isn't really for the command, it's to tell them they got it right. Like they know that sit is sit and speak is bark the click it like hey good job buddy you did it right
+markdevlinn mines 6 months, teaching tricks is so easy I honestly stopped after I got a double handful of them. Were gonna start agility soon, but this is a very fun one. I think it would be worth while to teach my little guy a target command like this. Id start by standing next to the target and prompting him to touch it. Mine follows hand signals so if I pointed at it he'd probably hit it after a second or two. Once they touch it, give him a reward or praise instantly. Do that for like 10 minutes, and then after hes touching it on command(target or whatever you wanna say) stand off from it and continue trying. id be surprised if it took over 45 minutes to teach these dogs this trick. They are so smart, easily became my favorite breed
