THANK YOU!!! I probably watched a few of your video's more than a year ago.
I picked up a crochet hook for the first time since I first crocheted a
blanket for the baby I was expecting 26 years earlier. I made the same
blanket for my granddaughter last year before she was born, but this time I
got some help on part of it because I wanted it to be perfect. I was pretty
happy with that. Now, more than a year later, I picked up a hook again and
I'm working on a new project. I've been trying to remember where to put my
hook through when it says "Ch 4, join with slip st to form a ring." I
thought that maybe it meant to try and get the hook through that initial
slip stitch but it didn't seem right. I don't want to say how many times I
have pulled out stitches but now I can hopefully get beyond round 2. Thanks
again!
+survivrs That afghan is beautiful... and looks a bit complicated. If you can make that you can make anything! As I said before, feel free to email me if you have a question.
+crochetnmore Took me a little while to find the pattern. It's Leisure Arts leaflet #191, "Rainbow set". I didn't care for the jacket and booties, but the blanket is so beautiful. The picture on the leaflet doesn't do it justice. The squares at the outer part of it were confusing, but once my sister helped me, I had them done in no time. I still have my son's blanket although he managed to pull yarn loose from the center, he would wear it like a poncho..Up until he was 4, he went nowhere without that blanket. There were a couple of times that I had to make a trip back to the babysitter's so he had it for bed time. That blanket was washed so many times and yet most of it is still together. When I finished the new one, I took pictures of them together and submitted it to Leisure Arts and they were going to put it on their blog as a 2 generation blanket, but I never got around to checking it. I guess that gives me something to do today when I get frustrated from pulling out so many stitches. I have a horrible time counting stitches because I can't remember short term things as simple as that. I asked my doctor if I was developing Alzheimer's because of my symptoms and while I'm glad with his diagnosis (side effect of some of my medications) it still hurts when I can't remember things that I should. Oh well, my apologies for the book and thank you again for that tutorial you made. I'm still having problems but I'm getting better at it. I bought an extra skein of one color because it was the one I was going to be starting with. I want to make slouchy beanies for Christmas gifts but if I can't get one to turn out for me, I guess I can get a head start on next year. Keep on crocheting!!! :)
Thanks.Good luck with your hats. The afghan pattern sounds like a very special one... what was it called? YouTube definitely is a good place for help.Feel free to email me anytime.
+crochetnmore You are so kind, I'm still trying to work on my project. I had gotten the idea for slouchy beanies, hopefully Christmas gifts for my kids as well as nieces and nephews, but of course I'm trying to make mine first as a way of working through the kinks because I just haven't crocheted enough to know what I need. Youtube is a plethora of information-especially yours, and if I get too desperate, I have my older sister to help me out. She was a huge help to me last year. The afghan was a Leisure Arts pattern, and I didn't know how to make the squares and I didn't want to fudge my way through it like I had with the one about 27 years ago. After all, this is my first grandchild and it meant the world to me to be as close to perfect as possible. I practically tore my house apart looking for the pattern, and one day I went online to leisure arts and was so happy to see that they still had the pattern. I wish I could show you the picture mommy took of her with the blanket for her 8 month picture. I'm sorry to go on so, but thank you again!!
+survivrs You're very welcome. Glad the video helped. Happy crocheting!
