I changed the air filter on my '06 Mk1 Versys 650. Here's how I did it! Much of this video applies to the ER6, Ninja 650 and newer models of the Versys. DON'T ...
+Crash Override I can't remember offhand, but there is some kind of retainer clippy thing that you pull out, and then the fuel line pops off nice and easy. That's the worst instructional tip ever! Sorry!
Hey, Andy! Great film you have here, Man Cam !!!! You change dangerous
services into easy walk on the park !!! Allways gooooood watch all them!
Keep ruuning movies!!!! Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I just got a 650 Versys with 6400 miles on it. What
would be a general interval to replace the air filter assuming city driving
conditions?
Of course you could just as easily just wash the one you have and replace it. Saves you money as you never need a new one. But with 2 there's no need to wait for it to dry before re-oiling and replacing.
That's a pretty shiny new versys! Mine had almost 10 times as many miles when i got it. Congrats on the splendiferous bike. Seeing as how the filter is a washable foam affair, i bought a spare and plan to wash and swap the filters yearly. For city riding I'd say that's plenty often enough.
ATV Backyard snow drifting - kawasaki 650
Here I am playing in the snow with my Kawasaki Prairie 650 - it has a Dynatek digital ignition and K&N air filter.
the dynatek CDI works all right, but i was expecting more power gains. Only
use dynatek, dont use moose or any of that other crap it will mess up your
handlebar LCD display.
+deadcell1 That depends.. I would take the Motorcycle Safety Course, and depending on how confident you feel, and how quickly you learn - you may even want to start on something bigger (600cc).
+deadcell1 you need a bike that has two power settings, because if you get a new small bike, and regret buying the small bike, you will loose money on selling it or trade in. Also you have to match your skill level.
Everyone keeps saying this is just a "starter bike" ........ Ive been
riding off and on for years and I personally think its an awesome bike. Its
alot easier to handle and better on fuel than my 1300cc Yamaha Cruiser. It
is defiantly a great starter bike but its more than just a starter. I love
it.
+gary walther I agree 100%. This is my current ride and I have owned around 10 bikes my entire life from my first which was a 1979 Yamaha MX175 to a KLR650 to a Buell Blast and everything in-between. I only have 51 miles on my 2014 EX300 and labeling it a "Starter" is correct, but veterans will appreciate the fun factor of actually going through the gears in town opposed to staying in 1st or 2nd the whole time because of the insane race-bred power the 650-1000's deliver. I ride for the experience is all and as long as I can keep up on the freeway I'm happy.
This is my kawasaki KZ650 bike converted to ATV. Just firing the motor up for the first time, temp exhaust with no air filters yet. The bike is not yet complete but im ...
ITS A MUTANT!!! hahah... maybe should have went wider with the axels...
what did you use them off of?? I bet its gonna be scary when its finished.

+Adventures in Real Life I cleaned them out, turns out it was my gas tank pressing on the cables, making them close slowly. so there's one problem solved. I wanted to ask you one more thing.. I'm going to attempt the carb mod where you fill the two holes in the slide and put a washer on the needle. having trouble finding video, pics for that, can only find for klr650.anyways, my question is about jetting.. what is your rough estimate for jetting if I do that carb slide mod, kdx snorkel mod, I'm going to run a 1/2" tube from the crank case into the air box with a filter on the end, bypassing the air box vent, and also I have a slip on fmf powercore 4 with a stock header.the bike I think came dyno jetted but I have no idea if they did it properly. just a ballpark estimate for what jet sizea I may need with those mods so I pick up the right kit.
+Adventures in Real Life yes, it's an 06'. So the 09'-14' cables won't fit? I found those on eBay but not the earlier models. The problem is the throttle stays wide open, doesn't even come close to snapping back. It's so bad it makes me not want to ride the bike. Do you think taking them off, cleaning the cables then oiling them would work, or at this point am I best to replace then altogether? I think I'm the third owner of this bike, they are probably the originals. I bought it in August, it's never really been crisp, but now its ridiculous. I've even taken apart the whole system at the handle bar and cleaned it, removed the bar guard and played around with it but the problem remains.
+Joey Fnuts Motion pro makes them, my brother bought a set recently, though you'll probably have to call them for the cables. A lot of aftermarket companies are terrible about listing what products they have on hand. Swapping out cables for those from another model is only really possible for the 1st gen KLX (an 06 or 07 like mine) later models have a unique throttle mounting. If you do have a 1st gen, then you can use the cables from the KLX300 which are the same (I'm pretty sure), I know someone used the cables from the 1st gen (1983-2008) KLR650 when he put on handlebar risers with an alternate carb, they're about 3" longer.
Thanks, great videos. I'm doing a lot of little things to my klx this winter and your vids will be a great resource. Do you happen to know if any other model of kawi (kx or kdx) throttle cables will fit the klx? I'd like to go after market but can't find any after market made for the klx. OEMs are about 40 dollars more than they should be
