I believe this horse was probably once domesticated and escaped with the herd. Many horses have done this which the blm will just capture and throw them in as mustangs to get rid of the problem. This horse doesn't seem to resemble a mustang in which you'll mostly see a stockier build. I'm not saying this one is not a mustang but it is a big possibility of just a horse that escaped and became wild. Which most likely he should be very easy to domesticate again and will remember anything he's taught. A horse who's never been touched doesn't allow to you pet them the first day and would bolt out of that trailer.

+SunnyReflector No, most of the mustangs are lean and short. Sometimes you'll find stockier, 15hh+ ones. And not every mustang will bolt and not allow them to be touched. >.> And NO, he had no training before. He came from the wild, was in a holding pen with no handling except being chased with flags to move from a trailer to a pen or whatever. There are mustangs that are calmer and others that are more reactive. If you watch Rune and Nimh, they both ran out of the trailer. However, by the end of the day, Elisa could pet Rune but Nimh was more standoffish. Mustang ancestors were domesticated horses that either escaped or were let go. Today, those in the wild are not domesticated. They are wild.

Modern horses are actually domestic animals and have been for tens of thousands of years. Mustangs are not truly "wild" animals, more like feral.
