Personally, I could care less if you did or didn't listen to music. That's your choice. But what I do have a problem with is that people don't respect the choices of others and that becomes a domineering part of everyone's lives, unfortunately. And our sources are to be the scholars only. If your scholar says so, then it's well and good - they needn't be imposed on others. Moreover, these are minor issues; there are so many major issues to be really worried about. So we shouldn't be arguing about this matter.

+Ruhani Sumon brother we follow the Qur'an and sunnah because we believe that the Qur'an alone isn't sufficient enough, for example it mentions in the Qur'an that we need to offer Salah during prescribed times but it doesn't mention how the actions or how many rakah's for each salah. Nevertheless Allah swt in several places mention " obey Allah and obey his Apostle". So therefore we use prophet Muhammad pbuh as our guidance, we need to follow his examples which are found in the ahadith. Men and women are commanded to dress modestly, but Allah doesn't mention how women should cover so therefore a lot of people that don't accept the hadith as a reliable source or reject it, say that nowhere in the Qur'an does it mention that a woman needs to cover their head. That's where our prophet Muhammad pbuh comes to clarify our understanding of the Qur'an. He teaches us about Islam in greater depth. So whatever the messenger said we need to obey as we were commanded by Allah to follow his example.

There are a lot of knowledgeable speakers that quote references from the ahadith's. My tutor from my Tajweed class also informed me with the same Information.

So long as the theme tune is vocals without any instruments it's considered to be acceptable. Music is haram as it takes us away from the remembrance of Allah swt. Music can be very addictive like drugs and it takes us to another zone like a trance. It may be soothing and therapeutic for a little while, but it takes us away from ibaadah. The ultimate peace can be attained through: " verily in the rembrance of Allah do hearts find rest". the songs that are permissible are the nasheeds without the musical instruments. Nasheeds that are sung by Zains Bikha, Abdullah Role, Qari Youssef Edghouch and many more who sing without the use of forbidden instruments are all permissible in Islam. There are however nasheeds sung by many people with the use of forbidden instruments but the scholars of Islam do not agree with this.

Brother, if music is truly bothersome to you while praying then I suggesting going to a local mosque or finding a quiet place. Playing the piano to deliberately interrupt prayer is haram. I'm a musician myself and I play the piano, flute, and guitar. All that matters is the kind of message that's being sent with the music. That's why I strongly encourage you (if you do happen to listen to music) to listen to music that does not explicity condone sin.
