I used to have this LP and Nordoff was a great composer. I met him briefly
many years ago through my composition teacher Romeo Cascarino. It's too bad
this symphony never made it into the American pantheon. It should stand
beside the symphonies of Roy Harris, Copland and William Schuman.
+Jk Stevenson The "Divertimento" was revised by Cascarino after the Louisville performance to include 10 winds instead of the original 5 solo woodwinds. It's called The Acadian Land. It's recorded by JoAnn Falletta on Naxos and it had received it's first public performance with the Windham Chamber Music Festival Orchestra (myself conducting) in 2011.
