Muslim Woman Beats Abercrombie In Supreme Court & Why That's Wrong
"The Supreme Court has ruled 8-1 in favor of a young Muslim woman who was denied a job at Abercrombie & Fitch because she wore a headscarf. Samantha ...
The equity was she was able to apply for and get an interview for the job! Thousands of white people may have applied and not got the job, what are there rights? I have some interviews by black interviewer, looking for a reason not to employ another black person!
All the bigots and racist have to do is reject any funny sounding names at cv stage. Which can already be done. Nobody seeks out trouble. If you are telling me she has the human right to the job what ever, and she can dress how she likes, I am surprised there is only this one case! Even the Young Turks are bemused. The left and political correct are leading us to destruction. Even the almighty Trevor Phillips saw the light eventually , but too late people like him have made the gospel when they were young and now set in stone. Even when argued against his old ideas he was trashed with no debate. Reason, the gospel is self evident and beyond question, only bigot or Uncle Tom would say other wise!
+007VitaminD Yes, A&F do hire people to model their cloths at their retail locations. It is modeling. Modeling their cloths, and projecting the specific look the retailer was going for was a requirement for the job she applied for.
+blfry LOL a RETAIL JOB is not equal to being a Model. Even if it is Abercombie, you are not modeling, maybe you need to lok good (which she does) but this doesnt mean you should strip down and expose yourself. Thats why Abercombie LOST the Court Case.
+007VitaminD Yes of course. That's part of being a model. You need to look and dress in whatever manner they require. Or, you know, I could go to Sports Illustrated magazine, and apply for the job of swimsuit model. Then sue them for not hiring a fat hairy old man, who's religion prevents him from wearing swimsuits. derp
Someone please answer me this, cause we don't even need to go to religion
or sexual orientation when it comes to establishments discriminating. How
is it a restaurant can turn a person away that's wearing perfectly
presentable but casual clothing, just because they don't have dress shoes
or a sports jacket on? Yet people lose their marbles when someone refuses
to serve someone because of sexual orientation; if a business can
discriminate against someone for something so trivial, based solely on
clothing why can't a business discriminate based on something more personal
to the owner like religious belief?
+enemay I think it's good in cases like this to make a distinction between someone's actions and their beliefs/ preferences.I do think it's a bit iffy for businesses to turn away customers wearing reasonable but non-store-approved clothing, but at least anyone can dress somewhat elegantly unless maybe if they're really poor (in which case going to a fancy restaurant probably isn't a good idea anyway). Dressing elegantly or not isn't an unchangeable part of someone, and they can reasonably be expected to be able to abide by those rules.Sexual orientation is more of a personal thing that is often uncontrollable, and it would therefore be unreasonable to expect people to "stop being gay" inside the business. Now, if they're kissing inside the store and no kissing is allowed, that might be a valid reason - but logically heterosexuals shouldn't be allowed to do so either.Same with religion - someone merely believing in something isn't a valid reason to discriminate, but if they're posing an act that goes against policy, whether it's motivated by religion or not, that could be a valid reason. Same with race - someone being black, white, latino, etc. isn't a reason to kick them out, but if they're showing disruptive behaviour then you'd be justified in doing so no matter their ethnicity.
this woman could become rich: all she needs to do is apply in many places
like hooters and clubs with her hidjab, be discriminated agains each times,
and win cases after which hooters and the like will be obligated to allow
covered women to work, as long as they are muslim (or christian, for that
matter).
Meanwhile, femen should start a religion in indiana and ask for religious
accomodation to be naked at work. Now that would be GREAT
She must have known the image that they go for. She probably had a good
idea about how our legal system views discrimination and used it to file a
law suit. Easy money
+Michael Sutcliffe I agree. She knew what she was getting into. This was a test case. Is she getting any money from A&F? I haven't seen anything in the media about money on this case.
I'm a Muslim and I cant agree more with Cenk on this. It's just plain
stupid of her to even apply for the job wearing a hijab, i mean they are
complete opposites of one another.
+Anthony Landrum Hmmm, I guess you have a point there.Yea so if there were muslims employed there, then I guess that proves A&F didn't hire her because of her religion. Those muslims working there were probably the more liberal ones who don't wear the hijab or aren't even religious.
+Mansa Musa There are numerous reasons that might personally compel her to wear the garment that wouldn't exclude her from being comfortable working there. This A&F if I remember the case file was a children's A&F anyway, and there were Muslims already employed there.
+Anthony Landrum I think the point that was trying to be made, was that even though she might have applied for a position as a cashier, its still not suitable for a conservative woman like her to work at an Abercrombie and Fitch store because eventually she's going to come in contact with a half naked guy each time goes to work, which is something her religion frowns on.
OBAMA'S EEOC (2) AND THE DESTRUCTION OF THE BLACK AMERICAN MIDDLE CLASS TWO OF TWO.flv

@MountainMonkSage I imagine u R right which would be a shame given that the
Prez has made sum poor decisions during his 1st term. I wish ppl would see
beyond the GOP obstructionist theory & realize that minorities in this
country havent exactly progressed exponentially via the liberal agenda
either. We MUST challenge the Prez 2 do/be better as we would any other
politician. In fact as the 1st Prez of color we should demand it & thus far
he's gotten a pass. That said I'm still keeping hope alive.
Well conducted interview. And while I did take exception 2 a few minor
assertions of Mr Jones Sr such as the state of So. Africa & reconciliation
analogy & the generalization/characterization of Blk on Blk self hatred
(the Waters/Mckinney contrast 4 example) I found the overall tenor 2 be
lucid reflective enlightening & generally on point. The 1st pt which
focused primarily on issues within EEOC were the most illuminating.
Hopefully those who watch this will share it & its content with others.
We need more people like him. The same people who are targeting Blacks,
taking bribes and just defacating on justice will one day watch helplessly
as their children, and grandchildren are violated. I have been railroaded
by EEOC and the Federal Courts and I know I am not the only one. We all
need to come together at the same time. There are more of us than them.

20unc06: how to find a trans friendly company to work for
This video talks about ways you can find trans friendly companies to work for, because getting a job and keeping it while trans can be difficult. Though several ...
i told them in person, but my parents are super
lefty/liberal/progressive/etc. i knew that they would be okay with it (it
was just an awkward conversational topic because then they had 20
questions). the trick is to speak from a position of confidence and
authority. it's not a discussion, it's a statement. your are trans, you are
going to transition, that means taking HRT and stopping wherever you're
comfortable, etc. it's telling them what choice you decided to make with
the rest of your life.
Look the part and don't ever address it. Issues come into play when
transitioners scare business away. In that case, try to pick a job like an
engineer, inventory picker, auto mechanic, etc. and it will be less of an
issue. In today's world, you won't find anti-LGBT rhetoric online. There
could be rouge discrimination by certain managers or employees. Your state
laws and threat of online exposure should cover you. Target's policy is
about a 25% SRS reimbursement through United.
Hi just me again. I love your knowledge to help Trans but I would rather
talk to just you. Not having anyone know my personal business. I can give
you a lot of extra pointers because of my situation. The ball is in your
court.... Please get in touch on a personal level. Thank you......
Great info, finding a place to work comfortably as trans can be extremely
difficult, and holding a steady job is probably the most importaint part of
anyones transition (assuming your not extremely ritch, or win the lotery
:P). Thanks as always, your an awesome person. =)
Me again....sorry for being ignorant but I don't know how to leave a
private message on YouTube...could you explain how....also I don't have a
facebook account...my son does but he doesn't need to know my
past......again please let me know how to on YouTube....thank you
Oh that's awesome to hear how you were at a wedding near Minneapolis, MN
this weekend! What do you think of this city? I'm asking because I live
near this city. Also thank you for mentioning some awesome Minnesota
companies such as Target and Best Buy.
there are several ways you can privately message me, such as via my
loosebricks facebook page, sending a private message on youtube, etc. the
ball is and always has been in your court if you have something to say
There is also what are other employees are going to treat if there know you
are transgender. That is something you can't really know do you do the job.
You can do research the company bullying polices.
The hrc doesn't list jobs - it lists employers with policies and benefits.
Though an employee needs to follow the rules (which doesn't always happen)
my guess is the answer is "none of them do"
Minneapolis, MN? Did you visit the Mall of America? I have two sisters that
live up there. I want to visit the water park or the amusement park. I'll
get back that way someday.
This is very good information. Thank you for speaking on this subject, and
for sharing important links. The information is really helpful and is a
great resource!
