Getting Started with the FlashForge Creator X: Upgrading to Sailfish Firmware (3D Universe)
3D Universe is pleased to present this comprehensive multi-part getting started tutorial for the FlashForge Creator X 3D printer. For the entire playlist of videos, ...
Hi, I've been trying to sync the 'update' button and reset button for
almost an hr now. It pauses for a longer period of time than just a regular
reset but I get the same error message that you do if you just hit the
update button. I tried the old RepG too just incase that was the issue.
Selected the correct board, tried 7.7 first but with no avail, tried 7.6
just incase. Tried a new USB cable, reset the printer manually. Is there
anything you can suggest or is it really just that hard to update it?
Have the flashforge creator X and it's running 1.2 when you turn it on. Any
help would be useful but I really don't know what else I can try... next is
restart my PC but idk what that would do
I am receiving my flashforge pro tomorrow, do I just install this one
instead of the rep g regular? or do I have to do the other one then
upgrade? thanks
The Pro comes with Sailfish pre-installed. You'll still need to use the Sailfish-compatible version of Rep G, but I would assume FlashForge is including that version on the SD card now, since they're shipping the printers with Sailfish. If not, you'll need to download the latest Rep G from the Sailfish page on Thingiverse.
Improved acceleration support = faster prints without loss of quality.New features, such as pause @ Z position. Improved bed leveling function. Override G-Code temps option (so you can change materials without having to re-generate your g-code).
Hi, +Alex Papanastassiou. That's always a very difficult question to answer because it depends so much on the buyer's preferences and what you're looking to do with the printer. It also depends a lot on price range. If something in the $1000-2000 range is acceptable, then I would personally recommend the FlashForge Creator X or the new FlashForge Creator Pro. I haven't yet found another printer that has so much capability for such a comparatively low price. The MakerBot Replicator 2X and Ultimaker 2 are also excellent, but those run closer to $2500 and $2700, respectively. For staying under $1000, you might look at the Solidoodle printers. They may need a little more calibration at first, but they can produce great prints for the price. If you'd like to reach out to us by phone or email, we could provide better guidance after we get to know your preferences and requirements a little better. You can find our contact info here: //shop3duniverse.com/pages/contact
Well,,, that all looked fairly simple,, ?? [facepalm / slams head on
desk] , lol.
FlashForge is auctioning off C.X's, "as is / for parts only", on Ebay, that
have been returned by Amazon customers. Reviewers are very happy, about
receiving working printers. BUT, now I think I see why the CX's are being
returned. The software and firmware upgrades probably deter beginners,,,
and experienced users heard about the motherboard upgrades.
After a year of watching the market and doing the research, I was ready to
purchase my 1st 3d printer. The Ebay auction price was too good to pass-up,
+free shipping, arrives next week :) I'm ready for any challenges that
might surprise me, when I open that box. Thanks to a lot of great YouTube
contributors and commentors.
+3D UniverseHey Jeremy, Just wanted to get back to ya and say thank you once again. This video pointed out some small details that got me thru the process............... eventually, lol.1st time is always the hardest. Gonna be a lot easier with the rest of my growing bot family. Hope all yours are doing well also. :)
Feel free to reach out to me (Jeremy) if you run into any trouble, +gcrady. You can reach me from the contact form at 3duniverse.org or shop3duniverse.com.To be clear, you don't have to upgrade to Sailfish firmware. I printed a dual extrusion cone with the default setup, and it came out beautifully. I just like the features that Sailfish adds.Maybe this is what you were referring to when you mentioned the motherboard upgrade, but the Creator Pro is out now, which is the updated version of the Creator X. That could explain a lot of the Creator X liquidation going on.
Yeah, it seems to vary, so some trial and error may be needed. For me, it seems to work best to press the reset button, then push the spacebar about a half second later. Now that the FlashForge Creator X has started to ship with the 2560 boards instead of the 1280 (so there's a mix of those out there), that's probably going to add some variability to the results too.
Getting Started with the FlashForge Creator X: Unboxing and Initial Setup (3D Universe)
3D Universe is pleased to present this comprehensive multi-part getting started tutorial for the FlashForge Creator X 3D printer. For the entire playlist of videos, ...
I didn't have as much luck starting with a flashforge creator pro. After
spending over a week tweaking settings, I was getting about about a 3-4 out
of 5 failure rate on prints and never could get it to print overhangs with
or without supports without a huge amount of distortion or hanging rows of
filament. I tried several slicers including the expensive Simplify3d. I
had issues where rafting and supports stuck so hard to models that pieces
of the model would break off or chip upon removal, and anything cube shaped
had raised corners (not lifting off the platform or anything, just corners
got taller the larger the item became). I tried a Da Vinci, and although I
hate the proprietary filament and closed-source format, it gave me perfect
prints right out of the box. I have since returned both and purchased a
cheap chinese knockoff (QIDI Avatar IV) since I can't justify spending so
much on something that I can't get any sort of consistent results from, and
it has worked alright so far outside of a few issues. Could my flashforge
have been faulty or are they all that difficult to get working right?
+Jeremy Simon Thank you, that seemed to do the trick. I really appreciate the help. After leveling the plate, I tried to create a test print. It did not move to the center of the extruders did not move to the center of the plate and the print started on the side of the plate. Would you know what might be causing this issue? Would this be a settings issue?
+Jeff Kricheff You're probably using a Creator Pro, or a machine that was already upgraded to the Sailfish firmware. That changes the leveling process. When you start the leveling procedure, it just moves the build plate up, moves the extruders to the front center of the build plate, and then turns off the stepper motors. The result is that you can freely move the extruders around by hand. Just move the extruders to each of the three points where the leveling screws are positioned and adjust the height in each position. When you're done, press the middle button to exit leveling mode.
+3D Universe Thank you so much for the help. I am now stuck on the section to level the tray. In the video, it shows it going through a three step process, my machine only goes through one step. Would you have any idea why this is the case?
Is your power off? If your power is turned on, then the stepper motors will be engaged and you won't be able to move the bed. Make sure the power is turned off, then grasp the bed on both sides, near the rear of the build plate and push down evenly on both sides.
By far the best getting started tutorial I have come across for 3d
printing. As a new owner of a FlashForge 3d printer, this video provided
clear instructions and recommendations that improved my knowledge and
confidence for my first 3d print. Thanks!
leveling are you feeling tension on both nozzles or just one? I am having
trouble feeling both tension, either right or left not both. also on the
pro it is one on the front and two on the back. I am trying to do the
opposite of what you are doing.
+3D Universe Is it normal for the center of the platform to be closer to the nozzle after leveling? For instance, I'll get a perfect level above each adjustment bolt (just a little friction with the card), but as I move the nozzle toward the center it gets tighter and tighter. Is this normal?
If your nozzles are properly leveled, you should feel tension on both. If you only feel tension on the right nozzle, that's okay too, because the right one is considered primary. That would mean that the right nozzle is a slight bit lower than the left nozzle, which actually helps to avoid the left nozzle running into your prints when it's not being used. If you're having trouble feeling which side is causing the tension, just insert the paper under one nozzle at a time and see how each one feels separately. If they both provide about the same amount of friction on the paper, then it should be okay.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution 101
In this tips-driven, in-depth look at Deus Ex: Human Revolution, learn how to best approach situations using stealth, combat, social and hacking gameplay, ...
I loved and still love this game. But the only problem with it is I feel
we're getting about 65% of what this game could've been. We never really GO
to Montreal, just an office complex above and below it. We never visit
Upper Heng-Sha, but we visit Lower Heng-Sha twice (a tenuous plot-point and
one that made my heart sink when I heard I was going back instead of
somewhere new, and the second visit seems so sad and empty and rushed...) I
think they planned more cities but had to pull back.
You can't project your experience onto others. Just because you are an
experienced gamer and found this game easy, doesn't mean that 99% of other
people find it easy! That's the problem with "elite" and hard core and
experienced gamers, to them Deus Ex was easy, but for 99% of the other
population, even on "easy mode" Deus Ex is TOO HARD to play and finish and
complete! Deus Ex game developers are using EXPERIENCED gamers to test
their games, and then deciding what's easy, BIG MISTAKE!
i had trouble with the boss fight because i went the stealth route, with a
tranquiliser gun and a stun gun i couldnt do anything against the first
real boss of the game, i had to take some shots at him and make a million
saves through out the fight, saving every time i get to one side of the
room or behind a pillar before the rest of my body does. im a hardcore
gamer, an original deus ex fan, but i got so frustrated with this fight
that i lowered the difficulty just to beat the bosses
deus ex is made to be completed according to your difficulty within reason
,if you run in there like an idiot with hacking augmentations, or put all
your starting augmentations into fall damage and seeing through walls
first, then your setting yourself up for failure and your an idiot. the
only thing you could say towards deus ex being too hard for the average
player is either the boss fights being created for a certain playstyle or
games these days being made too easy in comparison
The only real problem that you can point out with human revolution (well
that ive noticed)and i think most will agree is the boss fights, deus ex
has always been letting you take the stealth route, the offensive route and
the hacking route, in my head thats maybe hacking some turrets to help you
or hacking to weaken him, maybe using stealth to hide in certain areas
using items around the room to damage him, or the up front guns assault,
but you cant do that
@gongal i never even heard of the original Deus Ex before getting this
game, after i played just 3 hours of Deus EX:HR i went online and found the
original and bought it....this reminds me so much of the Metal Gear Solid
from the original playstation...and many aspects of this game are inspired
from MGS however its overall a phenominal game and i KNOW that all great
games have roots.
I was doing a pacifist stealth run. I killed Barret by diving for cover and
shooting the barrel behind him, tasing him, chucking a poison canister at
him, followed by an EMP, than riddling the meathead with my assault rifle,
with the occasional taze, EMP, or CS grenade to keep him down. Combat
builds can work great too, but cover is important, since bullets do a lot
of damage.
i dont even think it was one of those trailers that made it more awesome
then it is or overplayed it i generally thought all the trailers pointed
out necessary points, gave peeks at ability's, augmentations, the
storyline, the plot rather then the usual show off all graphics and killing
moves, or about 300 different .5 second killing scenes
I -was- doing it nonlethal. Chuck some CS gas between the heavys, another
up on the scaffolding to take care of the 2-3 guys there, and tranquilizing
the snipers (get them last, they do the least damage) and the guy who
avoided the gas. The trickiest part was keeping the BoxGuard from blowing
the right-side heavy up when it self-destructs.
well that's WAY better. Games right now are STUPIDLY easy and it almost
seemed like game developers were treating players like retards. That's what
I like about this game, it gives you a challenge like games once did
instead of a shitty call of duty bullet spraying game where you just hold
the trigger and win.
I stuck with being nice until the last question, than I slammed him and
told him to move on with his life, which worked. P.S. If you use the CASIE
pheromones, you blackmail him with his painkillers and he comes back to
KILL YOU when you return to Detroit. You can KO him or even gun him down,
but ouch.
When I play video games I'm TERRIFIED OF DYING, even if I have infinite
lives. I love how I can save every five seconds, as well as be stealthy. I
also learned to just kill everything that moves, rather than using that
useless Tranquilizer gun. I'm learning a little more about my game style as
I play.
@instantlockerzinvit1 Course not. People will never replace their actual
fonctional limb in our period of time, it will surely be a problem in two
or three hundred years because they're clearly other priorities now
(economy, environnemental changes, place of the nation in politic etc.)
Maybe if you're treating the game like COD it will be too difficult for
you. I'm playing on 'Give me Deus Ex' difficulty and I VERY rarely even get
shot at. You have to adapt your play style to individual situations and
adjust your tactics accordingly. It's all about playing smart.
Sounds like the only game you play is COD ~~ The easy difficulty is as easy
as it should be... and I bet "99%" of the casual gamer community will agree
with me. Treat this Game as COD and you'll never be able to go even half
way through without dying a thousand times.
I smooth talked everything without the augmentation at all the second
playthrough. I sure as hell didn't kiss Haas's ass though. I had to come
back to that 15 year old kid line twice...but eventually I chose the
angrier dialogue selection and it worked...
