@Le0ne9 And before running your mouth you should read more man pages about it Le0ne9. (psychocats . net/ubuntu/graphicalsudo) . In this case not a big deal, unless you are a dick wad with a attitude about always doing it a certain way. IF you want to help, how about make a video about "Why you would use gksu or gksudo instead of bitching and if you do, use examples of what gui's don't 100% work under sudo and vice versus". I hate ops!

@Le0ne9 It only matters sometimes with permissions...but that' sometimes, but Gotbletu's not a fucking idiot so your wasting your time LeOne9. You kinda sound like those annoying irc ops bitching about coding and commands. Let's put it like this. A: if sudo doesn't work for you, use gksudo (which is a front-end for sudo B: but for this tutorial running gedit under sudo shouldn't have any bad affect.

thanks... somehow I always wind up being able to install older packages... perhaps it's because I always install the dependencies... which probably wrecks my repo's into a cluttered mess - but it works. Next time I run into an issue though I'm going with this.

hello again, how I need to change /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/resolv.Conf if the IP address of my real network is not 192.168.x.x , it 10.0.0.x, and my router 10.0.0.138. Thank you

+sipulke the 192 replace with 10.0.0.200 or so. then use 192.168 for the multicasting ip range set

I must be doing something wrong. I have installed Ubuntu Desktop 14.04 LTS (Installing directly on a machine, NOT deployed as a VM) and when I get to the point of running the command: /usr/sbin/drblsrv -i, it gets to the point of asking which kernel I want to use for the clients. I only see options for 4.2.0-30. I get an error message that "initramfs only works for kernel 2.6 or 3!" then the program terminates and drops me back to the prompt. Do I need to somehow load the lesser version of the kernel in my repository? Not sure how to do so.

+des24man Turns out the kernel was too new based on the version I was using. 14.04.04 does not appear to get along well with initramfs as 14.04.04 uses version 4+ of the kernel. Once I loaded 14.04.02, I was good to go. Thanks for this video. It really steered me in the right direction in regards to setting this up on the Trusty platform!

help me please , I can't understand , can I use only one network interface and not to connect it to the Internet, only lan ? and don't use dhcp , for example I only want to connect my server in the network and make system images , in this network already have dhcp . and the last question ,why the IP addresses should be 192.168.x.x ?

+sipulke I have not done that yet but change the ip of eth0 to match your network and leave the other the way it is. eth0 is for you network and getting internet and eth0:0 is for your pxe boot operations for you computers that boot through pxe try that. let me know how it goes.

@brtidwell55 OK I just use PITiVi to convert to a standad AVI. Stuff like this is part of why I am glad Theora is coming onboard with VP8. In a year or so odds are things like recordmydesktop will use VP8 instead of OGV or OGG. And Google has already released the needed code to make VP8 work right with FFMPEG. So while it will not happen overnight it will be disseminated through Linux as much as every where else. When that conversion is finished things like this should be non issues

It worked! Thank you, thank you :) I was getting rather frustrated because everything works just fine with Linux Mint 8 but I also have Ubuntu 10.4 and I couldn't understand why the Ubuntu captures were going blurry when I uploaded them to YouTube. I thought it was down to a whole load of codecs I'd installed - I even did a reinstall to try and solve the problem (didn't work obviously :) Once again many thanks for that :)

@TheShowThatSUX Tried that. As I understand it, the problem is with the new Theora codec that is the default in Ubuntu 10.04. Using xvidcap and encoding straight to mpeg is hit or miss on my system.

windows cheio de virus e bla bla , anti virus consome 60% de memoria do pc Linux quase perfeito , unico problema eh a falta de programas e o suporte a dispositivos como o meu mouse pra jogos e os JOGOS em geral, um grande acontecimento foi o lancamento da steam para a plataforma linux,editor de videos e de audio tambem sao um ponto fraco

O problema é o Windows, quando você restaura o Windows o Meus Documentos onde estão os vídeos, fotos e musica e também os projetos e arquivos de textos salvo é deletado menos o arquivos de programas e próprio Windows mesmo cheio de vírus, bem diferente do Ubuntu.
