I'm getting my built 390 fe put in now. It is comforting seein all that HP your getting. Mine's from a 64 Monterey and I couldn't get an after market intake for it. I had to buy an old rusted up Galaxie engine to get the 4 barrel intake. Hooker Comp Headers, 600 mechanical dbl pumper, 292/560 hydro comp cam, bored 30 thous, MSD ignition, pistons, crank, etc. Original factory heads though. They're are telling me I'm gonna get well over the 400 HP I was asking for. I don't believe it though. You?

You may have a bit too much cam for your stock intake and heads. With an aluminum intake and some head work you could get there. You may be closer than you think though if you have your CR up where it needs to be. What you might be lacking in Hp you may have found in torque which we feel is more useful than raw horsepower.

Well I have since put an Eldebrock Performer on it and haven't got them yet but I'm going to go ahead and buy some new Edlebrock heads for it too. Also , unless there is a very good reason not too, what about a 50 shot Nitrous Express system? Not really to use, but more like Braggin rights and "Just in Case". Thanks.....

Why such a big dip in HP at the torque peak? And this engine should not make peak power at the same rpm as peak torque. I would say that the 406hp at 5300rpm would be your true dyno numbers. Perhaps it went into valve float or ignition jumped timing?

Compression ration is 9.8:1. Nothing really radical done other than camshaft and a little bit of head work. Contact our shop for details.

With the information given your are probably looking at about 325 Hp and 360 Tq
