So, putting my cards on the table, I think, it was Rev.Golightly, in the
Library with the Lead Piping. It was !! Finally, I got one right !! Lol In
the U.K., the game is known as ( Cluedo, made by Waddington`s ). I think,
it was their 2nd boardgame released in this country in the 1960`s, after
Monopoly. (Though, I believe, there were earlier versions of both Monopoly
& Totopoly, they did not sell on such a wide scale until the `60`s.)
Although, as mentioned before I am not a book-reader, I think, I have seen
nearly all the films & t.v. series based on her work & enjoyed them,
whether more comedic or true to book versions. This reminds me more, of the
1960`s Margaret Rutherford & 1970`s & 80`s, Peter Ustinov, film versions.
It also reminds me of a 1970`s program, presented by 3rd,Dr. Jon Pertwee,
called Whodunnit, that he took over from Edward Woodward. Who I only knew,
from his wonderful performances, in his 1960`s & 70`s espionage t.v.series,
Callan, at the time, which was why, I decided to try it.
I agree with all your favourites, I think, it is a more ensemble cast of
characters, as usually used, with the type of story being portrayed. It
also links back to ( Voyage of the Damned ) & follows the general thread of
this series, IMO, which is fear of the Unknown. This is another story, that
takes me back to the William Hartnell & some later, Classic Who, historical
stories, where they presented an alternative reason for events that
occurred, based in the Dr.Who universe. The Dr. then attempts to leave
quickly & quietly, in the hope that the real reason & his role will be
forgotten, just glad he was on hand, to deal with the problem. I also agree
with the main majority of the other commentators. Annoy.1, I think, the
buzzing may be Classic Who related, ( Spoilers ). Annoy. 2, Has been well
covered by others, but, I think also, it was the accumulated weight of
recent life, her hosts expectations & then, realising that her work,
however indirectly, was responsible for people`s deaths. This last point,
again re-states the recent experiences of the Dr. & Martha. This is all
leading up to someone else`s opinion, which, you may know, by now, in the
final two-parter. Annoy. 3, I know, what you mean, but, I took it as
deliberate, along with the other parts. I agree with your quotes, but, as
you said, once again spoilt for choice.
Special Mentions :- Donna over compensating her accent. When her Ladyship,
shares her concerns about the Unicorn, the Dr. temporarily forget`s
(when/where he is) saying, "brilliant where", thinking the real thing. The
Rev. Golightly, uses a typical British period expression, that immediately
made me wonder. He said, "all this work will be the death of you" to Prof.
Plum, I mean Peach. Did Donna rumble the Dr., trying to claim he could tell
the year from the air ? Or based on previous events, in the Sontaran story,
can he really do that too ? Donna says, " in 1926, they`ve still got
bee`s". Dr. says, "there`s nowhere to run show yourself", then, " Oh !
that`s just cheating !!". The detox version of radiation shake. As
"DWaDDLJ" mentioned, the Dr., doing the job of the normal police Inspector,
gathering all the suspects, Donna, acting like she is at home on the couch.
When in fact, she is in the best possible first-person murder mystery, no
holograms needed. Then she saves the day, by throwing the necklace into the
lake. More evidence, of what I mentioned in previous episodes, you could
substitute any of the earlier companions for this action. Donna, is
reaching the same point, as a companion, that we have seen starting with
the original two, who got aboard the Tardis back in 1963.
:)
+PapaKennMedia I`ve been trying to catch up with people`s video`s of the New Series, working my way through all those I`ve received. How you manage, I`ll never know !! Lol :) So much to see, so little TIME, there`s that word again. :)
+PapaKennMedia I knew about the earlier versions, because my Dad had one of Totopoly, amongst the possessions he lost when his Destroyer was sunk. Which somehow, made it mean more to me when I got one for Xmas, in the very early `70`s. Though, sadly, we only managed a couple of games of it together. Yes, D.T.`s scot`s essence came through there as well, I feel. Very Funny :)) Have you checked your messages !! :))
+W.Hartnell-Lives-On-While-"Dr.Who"-Continues I had no idea there was a game called "Totopoly". I just looked it up! (and learned something new) :)The "Oh that's just cheating!" moment had me in stitches. I kind of knew it was coming, but couldn't help cracking up :)
+SkoDamnScary It reminded me of the big wasp you fight in one of the earliest missions of the first Fable game :)

Discovering Doctor Who w/ Papa Kenn (Episode #24) Doctor Who - S3E2 - "The Shakespeare Code" (2007) Playlist of every "Discovering Doctor Who" Episode: ...
Gridlock wasn't fantastic but I think the episode was more about the "ending scene" (trying not to give spoilers) rather than the episode as a whole. It was nice to go back and visit New Earth and meet new characters.
Not one of my favorites but i like this one, next one is better
Favorite parts...
*Shakespeare: I like that is not classy he is no artistocrat yet he is
brilliant, they also did well with his backstory of his sons death and time
in a mental asylum
*The power of words: Though not fully explained i think it works and i
enjoyed it
*10th Doctor is a shakespeare fanboy: I love this since it is a hint to how
9th was a dickins fan boy (if only william had said "what the dickens") and
not sure if you know but david tennant is well known as a shakespeare actor
especially in hamlet so i love that they tie that into his doctor
Two points though
*The issue with the ending i think the reasoning might be that since he is
saying words to banish carrionites i assume that means that his "magic" is
effecting those three and the others aswell preventing them from
responding, and certainly from getting close.
*I did not care for the other two witches besides lilith, i think the plot
would have been better if it was just her alone since i did not think they
added anything besides appearance and she could pull that off as she looks
like them at times anyway. But i accept them they do not ruin the story
@James mccarthy I agree... The witches apart from lillith didn't add much... But I think they were done more for symbolism... The three Macbeth witches... Heck maybe that is where Will got the idea ;)

Good points, James :) I didn't know that Tennant was a Shakespearean actor! That's very cool. I agree with the theory on why they didn't try to stop them, but there was at least one rather long and distinct break in the "powerful words" that one would think a Carrionite would take advantage of.As for the older witches/Carrionites, I think they were there mostly for the classic Shakespearean effect of how witches were portrayed in plays back in those days. Rarely were they beauties, but ugly hags.
