Indeed, your natural vibrato is stunning and you have no trouble with pitch
—Though, you might want to bring this up a half to a full step so you cant
grab those notes at the end of phrases, eg., —the 'lonely" of "Now you say
you're sad and..." —By the by, any, and all, Julie is a good thing —"Nice
Girls Don't Stay For Breakfast" —"Girl Talk" —"Black Coffee" —All three of
those would be fab for you —youtube has all three —just search title plus
'Julie London' —Check 'em out. —Cheers...
You have really, really great vibrato control. When I heard your voice, I
instantly thought of Glee and Lea's style of singing; you remind me a lot
of her. You have a beautiful voice - keep singing, regardless of what
people say.
A cover of Julie London's classic, 'Cry Me a River'. Though it's been covered by many, many artists, I still go back to this as the definitive version of a fabulously ...
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I wouldn't go as far as to say
I'm Karen Carpenter's reincarnation (far from it!) but she's an artist who
has had a great deal of influence on me since I was a child, so to say I
come even a little bit close to her sound is a very, very flattering thing
for me to hear. I'm glad you enjoyed the song, and thank you again for your
sweet comments. :)
@montsdocto Does that really matter? I choose images of things I like, and
felt the mood of the song fitted to the picture. I state appropriate
copyright, so can't see any harm in it. I hope you enjoyed the song
regardless?
Say something to convince me that you aren't Karen Carpenter's
reincarnation. The way you treat your voice! absolutely perfect!! can't
stop listening to this golden cover. Parabéns!
Again wow!!! More, More...I am getting a collection of your stuff to play
to my MUSIC friends. You can sing any style...I would be envious if I
didn't love your music so much
@bridgesnpeanutbutter Thank you for the lovely comment! No it wasn't done
in a studio, just me in my front room with my microphone. I'm glad you
enjoyed it :)
Robert W. Gordon, the first director of the Lib. of Congress' Archive of American Folk Culture, began his career studying sailor songs in Frisco and Oakland, early ...
Thank you kindly! I'll give you the lyric that Carpenter wrote down from
Alex Blue's singing in Scotland, 1928 (but which didn't go down on the
recording of the singer): "N----r on the ice and ice won't slip, Ah-- /Ten
pound of codfish hanging to his lip." Carpenter's transcriptions weren't
always accurate. I confess to adjusting the words to "hanging from the
lip."
