When I use it, I don't mean violent force like you insinuate, which of course is quite rare. What I mean is this: she has been convinced by her parents to memorize this. She can't possibly have done it out of her own free will, and out of her reasoning faculties, because they have not developed fully yet. To repeat myself: obviously, this is something you would be against if it were regarding any other material. If you reflect on that, you see my position. I cannot see any strong argument for why this cannot be the sequence instead: 1. she grows enough as to be able to really understand the claims being made by the content of the Qur'an, 2. she decides, without the supervision of parents or imams, that this content is the only, final and divine truth, and 3. she then memorizes the verses, which the text orders her to.I do want to say that I understand both your logic, which I personally think is faulty, and your intentions, which I'm sure are most benevolent. In your mind, she is being given the greatest gift possible from a parent - through this gift of a Islamic upbringing, she will be spared from eternal hellfire and punishment.
