The pictures with HSS have wierd and dull skin tones what is the reason? Great tips anyways thanks.

+Elite Photographic Studio I did not know that, I will read it. Thanks

+Derun Ertugrul not sure about the color but its not HSS its hyper sync, Hyper Sync is when your strobe is set to full power, HSS is when your strobe is at its lowest power because it is pulsing

why not using a good ND filter to reduce light? You can shoot at 2.8 at 1\160th of a second and the outcom will look almost the same. yes its a little harder to focous but at hasrh daylight with a subject that does not move it shouldnt be a problem..

+‫יניב בן-יהודה‬‎ Im setting the exposure for the background sky 1/8000 @ 2.8 , then i am trying to find a strobe powerful enough to light the subject so she is not a silhouette and at 15 feet away you need about 1,500 watts and to hyper sync or not get the black shutter in your frame you need a specific strobe with slow flash duration like 1/600 of a second. so this video is only intended to help you determine what strobes are powerful enough to overpower the sun and what strobes are this powerful battery operated. hope this helps

+Elite Photographic Studio Thank you. Hypersync equipment cost lots of money. For subjects in motion I can see why Its a good thing to be able to use Hypersync, but for subjects that stand still, I belive I can reach the same outcom as you've shown here with an ND filter and any strong strobe. I guess what I'm saying is that this is not the best example for the use of Hypersync.

+‫יניב בן-יהודה‬‎ The intention of the video is to help control the background separately from the subject by overpowering the sun (I use the sun as a hair light). We expose for the background (model is a silhouette) and then let the strobes light the subject! Using fast shutter speeds allows me to stop action as well. Hypersync has saved me on many jobs and is in my opinion the best thing to happen to the photo industry in a long time.

after all that talk, you came out with a mediocre result? lol
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-leph-ddHWsY/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAB8/T9jv8ieYhwc/photo.jpg?sz=64
+saturn lom Sorry the video was only intended to show how great hypersync can be if you want to shoot at fast shutter speeds and wide open apertures . but remember your limited to strobes with slow flash duration like 1/600

Ever hear of the Photographers Ephemeris? If you had you would know ahead of time where the sun is going to be and where the camera needs to go. None of this put my hand up/look at my own shadow crap.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
I don't know about most photographers nor do I pretend to speak for them. My comment was directed towards your particular set, which was on a rooftop with nary a tree in sight. My comment still stands, that knowing where the sun is going to be ahead of time is beneficial and the mark of a real pro. This applies no matter what the subject matter is.

+cruizin31 I'm sorry but most photographers put there subject under a tree for shade and they get blotchy sun spots all over the subject because they didnt know the camera never shoots north on a sunny day unless you hand diffusers over the subject . So I tend to over state the fact of always shooting south

Why not try the new phottix indra 500ttl HSS. Battery pack and flash 1200€, best price in the market :)
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-leph-ddHWsY/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAB8/T9jv8ieYhwc/photo.jpg?sz=64
+José Campos ok I had a chance to test it and it works about 4 feet away when the camera is set at 1/8000 at 2.8 ,so its not powerful to use outside in the sun ,but I do like it on a cloudy day

+Thomas Shue Amen. Having gear that you can count on is priceless! And I'll add another point. Speedotron has more modifiers than Phottix. The answer is no.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0dpVnR8iXs0/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABw/Vmkb7WWscDI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Thomas Shue BS :)
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1L7BtpQWfEM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAWM/UVHtToWmxdA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+José Campos you can have the Phottix, ill pass. My speedotron smokes it!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0dpVnR8iXs0/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABw/Vmkb7WWscDI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Thomas Shue I don't know we're you get all that but I have tryed it now for 1 month on weddings, portraits and comersial jobs and it works solid, it's fantastic and the thing you say made in USA is just being patriotic :)Try the phottix and you will love it.

+Elite Photographic Studio hi. Well I have tryed my Indra500 now for 1 month and it's blows me out off the water. It works awesome. And the best thing is the hss from normaly 1/125-1/8000s ....I don't know we're you can't do hyper synk because you can with absolutely no problem. You need the odin trigger to do so.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-leph-ddHWsY/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAB8/T9jv8ieYhwc/photo.jpg?sz=64
+José Campos I like the phottix on a cloudy day but it can't do hyper sync because it doesn't have a slow enough flash duration ,needs to be around 1/500 flash duration to do hyper sync and its not powerful enough to use with light modifiers outside at 10-15 feet away its limited to high speed sync!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1L7BtpQWfEM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAWM/UVHtToWmxdA/photo.jpg?sz=64
Because Phottix is some sort of knock off (of profoto B1 stuff). People who haven't been in the industry for a while tend to buy this sort of thing . Its cool when you are trying to figure out what's what, but when you are serious and do serious work for serious clients, you have zero room for mistakes. Really, you can't risk being on set with Phottix when you have a whole crew's payroll on the line. . I use Speeotron because it's bullet proof, it will last your entire career, is always works, and hey... this stuff is made in the USA!. :)  On a serious tip, $ per watt you cant beat Speedo. Look at pro gear and you will see its all about Real Power (overpowering the sun power), flash duration, and consistent color frame to frame. The is about reliability, then cost. Price Speedo against Profoto, Elinchrom, BronColor and you will see that Blackline is way way the more affordable. If you are looking for the lightest speedo is not the way to go, BronColor is. A similar yet less powerful set up in Bron is the Broncolor Move 1200L that's 1200ws vs 1500ws, but the Broncolor is unmatched in its features, however its about $7,000 (pack and head) vs $2,500 (pack and head.. even less as the Explorer 1500 is on sale for $1,600 at B&H right now).Shooting for fun VS shooting for serious clients a whole different deal, Phottix is not in the same league. IMO, it's less quality even than even proven Alien Bees (einstein) that is just too fragile for commercial work. I am not trying to be a dick, a troll, or give you a hard time bro. I am just telling you the facts based on years of working with all manors of lighting tools.
