The former wouldn't hesitate, and the latter has a tendency in most media to let the human criminals pound on him, waste bullets on him etc., until they themselves give up. It's in Superman's reluctance to disable Superman immediately where Batman finds opportunities to dose him up with Kryptonite. Superman could kill Batman in a split second if he wanted, but he never would.

That's one scene you have to watch again and again to fully understand the underlying message.

+Trevon The Arrow That's why Snyder is not that great as a director!! His visions are just awesome and brilliant but he fails to present them on screen!! He always fails to explain everything!! He needs a bit of help from another superior director!! I watched BvS!! for me it's great..no..it's brilliant but unfortunately,i can understand why people dislike it!! His films are inaccessible for people who knows nothing about comics!! That's why people hate his direction!!

+Hector Navarro i was saying in term of plot. because haters are heaving problems with MoS plot but i was saying that in terms of plot superman the movie had a lot more holes. but i agree in term of fantasy or kids entertainment it was great.

+Luis Felipe Silva Sampaio No, because the TONE of that movie is what makes it a favorite.It tells audiences to HOPE. It doesn't take itself too seriously. And it has FUN with the character and world.Could you remake that movie today and have it be accepted and loved by audiences all over again? No, that was Superman Returns and generally people didn't like it.But there's potentially a balance between what both Superman: The Movie and Man of Steel each did GREAT.

+Hector Navarro audiences know more about superheroes today but even today they don´t care that superman killed zod back then and is not just that people say that MoS has plot issues but superman the movie was much worse. for exemple:how lex luthor could possible deduce that kryptonite existed and that could kill superman! i´ve watched that many times and i still can't figure it out how he deduced that.and when he came back in time to save lois he would have to do all the other rescues all over again; the bridge, the train and he did´t and with all that people still say that was a great movie and has issues with MoS. i just can´t understand. don´t you agree?

+Easy Ambrose No, it explains why movie audiences didn't care if Superman killed Zod in Superman II in 1980 but might be confused that Superman killed General Zod in 2013. Audiences know more about superheroes today than they did in 1980.The entire point of a character like Superman is, that there's always a choice. If a story ends where Superman can do no other action than kill a bad guy, maybe the story could have been written better. To show that there is always a choice. Unless that's not what the filmmakers wanted to do with Superman....which, if that's the case, then WHY does the sequel deal with the supposedly "unimportant" consequences of killing Zod/letting thousands die?Because the filmmakers HEARD audiences when they said "nah, that's bullshit, Superman would have done better", and they're FINALLY getting around to having him be more "Superman-like" (hopefully) in the new one.And if Superman was just "learning about his powers", and he shouldn't be held accountable for his actions because he was "just learning", then he shouldn't have been FLYING AROUND fighting gods and letting buildings fall down.With great powercomes great responsibility.Which the movie Batman v Superman is going to TEACH him, anyway.

+Hector Navarro that's an excuse. Zod was powerless but still got killed. MOS he left Superman no choice. People should get over all the destruction also. Superman was just learning his powers, he hasn't become the "boyscout" yet.
