The Departed is so awfully overrated. It doesn't even hold a candle to Scorsese's masterpieces such as Raging Bull and Taxi Driver.

The end revelations tie allot of the plot-holes together, but with a story this complex you're going to have to overlook the coincidental nature of how it unfolds. The major plot hole I cannot forgive with any rationale is how Nicholsons character knows that Leo is a ex-cop and even makes a comment about his social regression, and then still trusts him. Shut your brain off and enjoy the movie because it does some hand holding through the first half, but turn it on for the second because that's when the hand holding stops and Scorsese let's you figure things out yourself.
