+Rahul sharma It seem most Indians have resign themselves to these as part of their life going by what you said here.If your house is riddle with insect such as mosquitoes and cockroaches, shouldn't you be using insecticide to deal with such problem rather than admit defeat and live around it ? Prevention is one thing but do little good if the infestation already happen.
if a woman can be a mother a sister so can a guy be a brother and a father..These sentences are so much stereotyped that they have started sounding very lame..90% women in India are wannabees attention seekers..Sincere advice a brother gives to his sister or a father giving to his daughter to wear decent clothes behave like a woman, not to smoke and drink is taken otherwise if said by another person.. Rape, molestation were happening years ago and will continue to happen, the main thing is to prevent it..how do u prevent it, you as a girl were decent clothes and r back home before its dark..thats nature..one can get robbed late in the night, be it a man or woman, so its simple, travelling late nights is dangerous, criminals target the most vulnerable people..Rape, Robbery etc etc will continue to happen, its how we keep ourselves safe..punish the culprit however it wont undo the things happened..BE SAFE.. Women should learn to take advise..competing with men wont do them any good.. because the guys who rape or molest dont have a FB or a Youtube account..the girl is at fault to an extent..what was she doing late night drunk..she becomes an easy target..YOU DONT GO TO THE THIEF AND TEL HIM/HER YOU CARRYING CASH, ROB ME IF YOU WANT..
Mr. Max, Same type of Rape incident happened in West Hollywood, Los Angeles County, California, United States BY A UBER DRIVER in JUNE 2014, Just GOOGLE. What's wrong with US and other countries now? It depends on the mindset of a person not country. Strict and Immediate action against the criminal should be taken. That's important.
Take aways from Delhi Rape episode : - -
1) Public Transport is still in Lacklustre and negligent in Delhi.
2) Govt has failed to provide safe, cheap, comfortable and round the clock
public transport to the public.
3) There is lot of black money exchanging hands when it comes to public
transport. Everyone in Delhi knows when Red and blue line buses were
introduced in Delhi, money was extracted and who took that money , all know
in Delhi.
4) Delhi Metro is still like a drop in ocean. It has become difficult if
not impossible to travel in Delhi Metro with so much of rush and now fight
breaks if someone do not get seat.
5) There are many in political circle, bureaucratic circle and media even
who are not happy with battery rickshaw as they are not getting their share
out of it. Smart tactics have being adopted to shun battery rickshaws.
These people have realized that it is popular with public as they feel
safe, cheap, comfortable , very dignified for women to travel and since
elections are approaching every political party is trying to appease
battery rickshaws.
6) Even in case of Cabs, Radio Taxis lot of money has gone in to the
pockets of powerful people at top. As such these companies have no fear now
and are working, flouting all rules set in the agreement. Even in Uber Taxi
case the character case is given by Police without ascertaining the
credentials. In India every certificate is possible if money is given, many
in Delhi have 2 or 4 or 8 voter I card with same photo.
7) Police is not having adequate data to give such certificates.
8) Minimum Graduate should be the qualification, when driver liscense is
given in Delhi, then be it battery rickshaw, or cab or truck. Local
transport must be handled by drivers having Delhi address as it has being
seen that drivers especially from outside Delhi like in this from Mathura
are not accustomed to Delhi Culture and do not know how to deal with
educated modern women. Delhi Guys can only handle Delhi women.
9) Police patrolling is missing on streets. Putting the drum or barricades
and stopping all traffic is not the solution.
10) Police personnel on smart bikes like Pulsar must chase the vehicle
under suspicion, or do walkie talkie so that Cop on other bike at next
intersection can stop this vehicle.
11) Smart policing is the answer. Women COP instead of sitting in the cozy
police station should be on streets, roads out in cold along with their
men police to protect the women on street coming from their offices.

+esosj Ban as a solution actually takes u away frm the actual culprits..But aftr knowin uber did nothin on a prior complaint on the very driver..They share a responsibility more than ever now...By nw m against uber..About background checks thr is no system in place,Govt shld play more than a role..Guess they settle to a certificate cleared by the police.
+ajay prasad Believe me man, I am in full agreement w you on your point about a faulty system. I just am of the opinion that Companies also have a social responsibility towards their clients and investors. Keep in mind that Uber has been in trouble for this here in the States as well. They conduct fraudulent background checks, if they even decided to run one at all. In India, the system may be flawed. The rep from Uber was documented as making a statement which implied that the company KNEW that there was not efficient background check REQUIRED for their business. This means that Uber CEO found a shortcut and exploited it. They are just as much at fault as any other party involved in this situation.
+esosj point being even a thoroughly checked driver cld hv committed it..Even if it means company is responsible fr their clientele they r actually relied on police and the system..I agree tht analogy cld hv been better.
+ajay prasad also, your analogy is a horrible comparison. Public transportation drivers are background checked. If someone gets raped on a bus by another passanger, that is not the same as the Damn driver raping the victim.
+ajay prasad it would be wise of you to first research the issues with uber. We are not talking about just any public transportation company. This is a third party company who contracts regular everyday drivers on the fly. It is their responsibility to ensure proper background checks are done to protect the safety of their clientele. You seem to be ignorant on the matter....are you sure you even know what uber is? So to answer your question - yes, if a company like uber fails to work within the promised peramters of operation, then they should be banned. I fail to see how this line of thinking is eluding you. NOBODY is claiming that rape is not a social issue...because it most certainly is....but this does not excuse poor business practices. Sexism, racism, and discrimination are all social issues as well. Should we allow corperations to become lackadaisical when it comes to equal opertunity policy as well?
+esosj It is so,High time we start to self deprecate..Tomorrow a rape incident in a train u going to ban the services??Rape is a cultural and social issue..Want to be the change set prerogatives..Problem is else whr injust to the victim by blamin uber entirely..Which is wut we seeing here..Might be it was a dumb move to trust certificate issued by the police??How can u blame uber for flaws within this system.
+ajay prasad How is holding a company accountable for hiring sex offenders considered a scapegoat? Nobody here is implying that India policy and the individual are not equally to blame...but to completely ignore the dark practices of big corporations, like uber, is downright irresponsible as a citizen. You cannot solve a complex issue by only focusing on one aspect of the problem. True change comes when you eliminate ALL the factors, instead of turning a blind eye in ignorance.
