ha ha, its amazing how easy it is to overlook some mistakes, but when you
pointed it out, i thought "Im blind, i didnt see that". Smashing, you can
repair anything you clever man :-) Wonder how they got that way in the
first place...... hmm odd. That car looks really decent underneath :-)
Man just getting around to YouTube been busy. Love the update. Car looks
pretty clean, the pie-slices in the exhaust brings back memories. Glad you
got the brakes worked out, what diameter are those rotors?
duh, I worked on a car for two days and shop told me it was a bad master
cylinder, then after two hours at the shop it struck them, wrong side, ha
ha ha cost me two hundred more to learn that.
yep that makes sense, but it was still a daft mistake for someone to have
made, but you have corrected that error now :-) I dont know about you but
brakes are just a tad important lol :-)
i think someone else put them on like that. then to get it to bleed they
reverse bled it so you push the fluid up from the fitting back to the
master cylinder not the other way around :)
Thanks for commenting Randall! It's nice to know someone is watching! I've posted quite a few video's lately and I'm not getting that many views! Stayed tuned for more..lol IDK if you're on FB or not..but I have a you-tube page AreWildz28. I post pictures of my vids and other things! :-)
RARE 1957 Maserati 300S at Spa (Beautiful Sound)
Another beautiful car we saw at the Spa Classic was the 1957 Maserati 300S. The further you go back in the history of cars the more beautiful they appear to be.
The 300 S racing number 6 currently is the property of the german family
Werner. This car S/N 3059 was the winner of the 1000 km of Nürburgring in
1956, with Moss, Behra, Taruffi and Schell at the wheel. Great car, great
sound!
+HistoricRacingHD I really do not know about the Mazda Wankel powered. I remember I saw 3059 at the french "Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or" at the Montlhéry race track, maybe some twenty years ago. Max Werner was at the Wheel, a really great racing driver.Regarding the various 300 S in your vid, I wonder if the #7 is 3055, winner of the 1000 km of Paris located on the "Autodrome de Montlhéry" in 1956 driven by Behra and Rosier......
+Carlos Degol There might be more than one Maserati 300S' in this vid! Can't fully remember but thanks for sharing the info, very interesting! By the way, are you talking about the Werners that got the chance to drive the Mazda 767B at the Spa Classic in 2014?
+Peter Pretorius Thanks! I like that the car isn't very loud, its sound is civilized and pretty quite actually but when it comes through it actually sounds very, very nice.
Yup, it's an A series engine but it isn't out of an MG MIdget. They were
all rear wheel drive. It should have the size cast into the side of the
block, either 948 , 1098 or 1275cc. This engine did go into a lot of cars
but usually were rebadged if different from MG. I'm rebuilding an Austin
Healey bugeye sprite with this sweet little engine and it was badged
"Austin." Same engine, different badge. I'll post some pics for my AH forum
members. Someone should know exactly what they are from.
If it were used on the 1300 model, it would have to have been, at the
latest 1973 as that was the last year it was built. It wouldn't be from a
Magnette as they used the B series engine. I guess some of these had the
engines hotted up and rallyed. With off set over bores and a hot cam, these
little engines could really fly. Of course, the cars they were fitted in
hardly weighed anything. There are aftermarket super chargers if you really
want some seriously silly dangerous fun.
it is a 1275 cc mg a series engine, likely from a sedan, since its front
wheel drive. to the right crowd, its worth 3 or 400 hundred bucks.
depending on if it runs or not of course. the carbs are 1 1/4 su's, and it
makes around 50 horsepower. hahahahahah. i have this engine in the red
daily driver midget, though that is a rear wheel drive car. may be a mg
magnette? good find my friend, i'd think of something to use it for.
The AH forum members are lobbying pretty hard for it being a 1100 or 1300
MG (econo box sedan). The later Metro and Maestro both had single carbs.
They do have a following but it's kind of small so your neighbor might get
more by parting them out since many of the parts will fit front and rear
wheel drive versions of that engine. Kind of sad, in a way, but likely.
It looks like an A series, from an MG saloon, either 1098cc or 1275cc. The
alternator suggests it was a fairly late model. These cars were fitted with
13" wheels. The MG was a slightly hotter version than the Austin, twin
carbs etc. Apart from the gearing this was similar to the power plant in
the Mini 1275GT.
Twin SU's, could be from an original Mini or Mini Cooper. Should be about
1295 cc displacement (!.3 L) Might say on one of the tags on the block. All
my old Mini friends are either dead ort have dropped out of sight. I'll see
if anyone I know has an idea.
it looks like it came out of somthing like a european van, because the
engine is mounted in front of the axle, so thats my guess, or it could be a
rear mounted engine out of a little v w, that may be a better guess
I don't think my neighbor would mind parting it out. Does seem kind of like
a shame though.. Cute little thing, I'm almost curious to see if I can
crank it just so I can see what it sounds like. Any idea what year?
its the british A series enjin they used the same enjin in a lot of cars /
vans but chainged the gear box on some of them but i canot reely recognise
theis gear box !! may be MG MIDGET or similar
Yea, I thought about pourin' a little gas in the carbs and firing her over,
just to see if she'd crank... Only thing is, if she did, I'd have to build
a car to fit it... hahah
Thanks for the info.. I actually sold it. The guy that bought it knew
exactly what it was, and left with a big grin on his face. Good to have
found it a home..
