You need to do a racing school with SCCA - many held around the country. This will give you a racing license. Many operators around the country run arrive and drive Spec Miata rentals. In the South East there are several - I run with OPM Autosports and they offer Spec Miata rentals at all the events and tracks in the SE. A double race weekend with a test day (3-4 sessions) plus 2 qualifying sessions plus 2 races will cost you around $2,000 - $3,000 for the weekend excluding your travel and race entry. That includes gas, tires, trackside maintenance, support etc. If you are really interested I suggest reading the posts on Mazda Racers Forum - that is the Spec Miata forum where everyone posts. It was good to see Road Atlanta again. Nice run. Your own car must be set
up differently than the Skippy cars. Your shift pattern from 3 through 7
wasn't what is was during class. At least that is my newbee observation.
Could be wrong.

Damon - Skippy MX-5 cars are 6-speed transmissions. Spec Miata's are 5-speed. Gear ratios are different. We run 3rd gear through T3, T5 and T6 whereas the MX-5 cars run 4th gear in those turns.
