I don't understand how the captain did not took an alternative route to avoid the hurricane, these ships are equipped with the latest technology available, weather radar, satcom information, navigation weather updates etc etc ...

I take August off, and I travel the rest of the year. I don't have to be tied to my building, however my 49 employees do from time to time, although, even they can work from home (the best can anyhow). It's not even that bad. I live in mass and every one is freaking out. It's slowing down and only going to be bad at sea near the ports. Inland is going to just loose power for like 3 hours and a few tree are going fall down. Just don't park you car under a tree. Your windows are not goin to blow out

NC here :D Everyone around me has evacuated with the exception of my back door neighbor. I live 30 mins from the OBX and rode down there earlier.. not bad yet :D Very calm. (no tourists either, bonus!) Still not really windy yet.. 4:50pm.. No rain either.. Just.. silence..
