Oh, its not an extra $56 for the engraving, its $56 total for the engraved model. $10 more for hand engraving is a deal. "We wont sell them with logos, but we will sell someone elses design." LOL! I think stealing a design is way worse than stealing the logo. They might as well leave the logo on them. They are still clones and they might as well own it and sell them with the logo. I personally dont agree with clones, but I dont care what the next guy uses though.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Sure. Things that are novel deserve protection. The logos and engravings do deserve protection. That we agree on. What we disagree on is whether or not something like the design of a button should be protected. Even the most complex mech button is incredibly simplistic. It is also peculiar that you completely ignored the fact that the AR mod is a design that openly copies a rifle's hand-guard.The reality is that mechanical mods are inherently simple and to make them more complex is not reasonable. You're applying stricter standards for mechanical mods than you do other objects. For all simple functions there are only a small number of ways to perform that function. 510 connections, positive/negative contacts, and firing buttons are all constrained to a very small number of configurations. What sets apart mechanical mods are the the engravings and logos; for this very reason a clone without logos and very close engravings is perfectly acceptable. The body of a mechanical mod can be telescoping, one single tube, or multiple tubes. Only 3 possibilities. A mechanical mod can have a switch with springs, magnets, a pivoting arm, or any combination of the three. All mods copy to some degree, that is the nature of dealing with an object that is very simplistic. You've presented no argument as to how anything other than a logo or engravings are unique to a given mechanical mod. You've only provided a sarcastic "oh the AR mod and Gus mods look so much alike."A demand for clones is the only reason that "China" produces clones. A logoless/engravingless clone should not be an issue to anyone who actually understands the fact that mechanical mods are confined to a small number of configurations. If a superior form of a feature of an object is designed, there is no reason to redesign this feature. With mechanical mods, the optimal design for every part has already been reached. Floating 510 connection, button that by design does not require the user to adjust for play in the battery compartment, and a mechanism to prevent an accidental continuous discharge of the battery. When someone designs a new mechanical mod, the only real difference is in the logos and engravings. The rest are only minor alterations to the firing mechanism and 510 connection, if any alteration at all. So a designing a new mechanical mod is essentially just designed something different for the sake of being different. If a manufacturer doesn't include the logos or engravings on a clone, they have done nothing unethically.Your argument boils down to "if the 510 connection and fire button are in the same combination as an already released mod, and the tube is the same shape, the design is stolen and at that point the manufacturer should just engage in unauthorized use of the mod maker's logo and engravings.\One final point. Do not engage in the fallacy of believing someone does not understand your point just because they explain how your point is invalid. Validly explaining how a point of view is wrong requires a greater understanding of the point than is required of simply having the point of view. You're free to explain how my point of view is wrong, but just saying sarcastic things is never a refutation. Ironically, your example of the AR mod shows that you have a double standard as to when and to what extent a mod maker can copy another source.

+jash21222 If all mechs were the same then china would have no reason to copy other people's designs. You just won't get it ever, theres no use in arguing.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Logos and Engravings are the only thing that really make them a brand.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uWAaqaBXgWI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAxg/nJL4ZscgLmA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+jash21222 man, that AR mod really looks like the Gus lord, I cant even tell them apart.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uWAaqaBXgWI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAxg/nJL4ZscgLmA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+jash21222 they are exact copies of the mod they are cloning! If you say that the Chinese buying one authentic and then reverse engineering it and making an exact copy of it isnt stealing a design, then you're delusional. If all mods were the same just because they all work on the same principal, then there wouldn't be dozens of different designs. If you went out and designed a super popular mod like the nemesis, and it got cloned, you would not be very happy. If all mods were the same then some wouldnt sell better than others, and everyone would buy the same mod. They are all designed differently, have different designed switches, locking mechanisms, and different top caps. Btw, I dont care if you buy clones, im just saying they are stealing the designs, not the concept of how a mod works.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
The problem with saying "stealing" a design when it comes to mechanical mods is that in many cases the designs are purely functional with the exception of the logo. For example, take the Nemesis. It is about as generic a mechanical mod can get when you don't take into account the logos on the device. There is a positive contact, a negative contact, a battery tube, a top cap, two pieces of insulating plastic, a fire button/insert, a rice pin, a locking ring, and springs or magnets. These are inherent to all mechanical mods. In most people's opinion, the Nemesis is a very well designed mechanical mod.Your argument completely ignores reality as clearly seen from an engineering perspective, you do not reinvent the wheel just because it was already invented. You go for the simplest and adequate design for an object. Imagine if everyone applied your flawed reasoning to something like the wheel or any variation of the wheel such as gears. "Well, the wheel was invented a long time ago, so we should not copy the creation of a nameless man from antiquity; let's reinvent the wheel. Let's not design our car with wheels, and let's not use rubber for our tires. Let's not design a car that runs on gasoline or diesel. Our car shall not be a clone.See how your argument falls apart when dealing with cars? When you argue that a mechanical mod is a clone even without logos/engravings, you're going down a logically contradictory path.Back to the nemesis clone. Its design does the following: allows electric to flow from a battery through a heating element and back to the battery; has insulators to prevent a short condition in which electricity flows from the the positive to the negative terminals without passing through the resistance element; and it has a lockable fire switch designed to not unscrew itself while using it.So, other than removing the logos and engravings, how exactly do you justify a total redesign of this mechanical mod? Externally it looks incredibly generic and internally it is purely functional with no novel ideas that haven't been done before.Next time you're vaping I doubt that you will complain that Sony cloned the battery invented many, many years ago.

That's the only way clones should be allowed in the public eye anyway.LOGOLESS.immitation is one thing, theft is another.bout time we see some morals in play.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-IPN0iMq8iRU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEs/oOAGMpfpjmU/photo.jpg?sz=64
elitist.. :Pbut in some cases I'd agree.. A lot of original engraving and logos are ugly as shit so taking them off actually improves the product.
