I've always wanted to find out what is that little ledge screwed in on the pickguard below the strings? What is it for and why is it sometimes on the opposite side of the strings?

I've heard that Leo Fender initially installed them to produce a more enhanced sound from the pickups, though this change is minimal. They are mostly used for looks and some people also like to rest their thumbs on them

hey ciao! yessssss! e' completamente originale! :-) mi e' arrivata da los angeles,ce l'ho da fine marzo di quest'anno,e ho anche la sua custodia originale dell'epoca,la custodia originale e' fatta apposta per la mustang,se provi a mettere la stratocaster per esempio,non ci entrera' :-D be' allora in bocca al lupo per l'acquisto,se te la prendi anche tu del 65 hai fatto un'ottima scelta! non te ne pentirai! sono soldi spesi bene! poi se ti stai prendendo la riedizione quella e' un'altro conto.
