That's so mean. Don't take that to your head people say that because they are jealous of u. Remember everyone is beautiful and talented and amazing in there own way
Girl, you go out and cheer!!! I was a chubby cheerleader for almost 2 years and I'm trying out for cheer at my highschool. Believe it or not, there are chubby cheerleaders. Screw whoever said you are too fat. Unless you are 400 pounds, go out for cheer!!! Even then, you can still be a backspot or base!
On my team we have a few stunts without back spots. I fly a few and as long as you have a mat, are confident in what you're doing, focusing, and tight in the air you should be fine. But it is always safer for a backspot to be there. I feel safer with one but in routines where we're a person short a stunt might go without a backspot but it's usually just basics like a half or an extention
I agree we always have to have a backspot at my school because it is very dangerous. A few years ago this girl broke her back because their stunting group was arguing and they dropped her and there wasnt a backspot
+Lexi Smith for cheer there usually aren't 'requirements' for how flexible you have to be but it would be helpful to at least be close to having your splits. Flexibility is the key factor when learning how to do jumps but its not really a 'requirement' unless you want to try out competitively or something. As for not being very skinny, weight doesn't matter in cheer unless you want to be a flyer. Its good to lead a healthy lifestyle when cheerleading, but not to the point where your litteraly starving yourself to fit in with other cheerleaders. Weight isn't what the coach or judges are looking at when they pick the cheerleaders who make the squad. They mostly look for energetic girls (or guys) who have sharp movements and really have a passion for cheer. Hope this helped a little bit, i hope you tryout and make the squad :)
will this count for middle school? my school makes you wait for 8th grade

When they did a twist down into a load the back spot was holding her up by
herself so the bases could catch her feet then when they went into a
prep/half when the secondary base didn't have her foot she was holding her
on her own so they could get situated but that stunt did not touch the
ground 1 time because she is a really good back spot
